I am not sure. What are the copyright and licensing issues with using real people? Can we just go and use someone's name inside the game? What would Mssrs Bell & Braben think about it, if they knew about it? Shouldn't we ask them first? And which Pandora's box would we open if we did that?

Do what UEFA (PC game) did.

Instead of David Braben, use David Barben or something.

That would kind of defeat the purpose, wouldn't it?

And we would get lots of error reports about typos, too... :?

Well, "Monty, the Python pilot" could be mentioned - since he's in the original Elite manual as well (iirc)... ;)

Ermm.....

I was flying around Diso when I came across this lovely looking racing Mamba, the pilot started chatting away to me and then, just as I lined him up to take a screenshot he jumped out...

Now, are ships jumping out that aren't supposed to be Hyperspace capable an Oolite issue or is this something specific to my alter-ego inside the personalities oxp?

Sorry, my fault. Your alter ego should not have that possibility. Will fix it in the final release. :oops:

Some of its final features will need 1.74, so I thought I wait for that until I release it.

Also I am still welcoming more entries! :D

Oh, and there are also RealLife™-reasons why I am not busying myself too much with complex Oolite projects right now.

Commander Alicia Montgomery.
Ship: Python class cruiser, standard specs as per wiki
Added equipment: ECM, escape pod, military lasers fore&aft, injectors, shield boosters, military shield booster, energy unit, heat shields, expanded cargo bay.
Normally carries 2xhardheads 1xinterceptor and 1xsalvage missiles (last 2 from missiles&bombs OXP) if needed, replace with full load of hardheads. No Q-bomb carried.
Normal cargo: Whatever makes most profit where I'm headed. Usually computers/luxuries or furs/wines plus random amounts of cargo captured from bounties, frequently carries large amounts of alien items.
AI type: Bounty hunter
Uses injectors in the main to pull back from fights when in trouble, flees when the odds are just crazy.
Legal status: Clean, normal rescue bounty - average

# popping out of witchspace,
We're heeere!
(singing - badly) Here we are again, happy as can be...
Now, where did we leave that station....
# after launching from a station,
Whoosh!
Argh! Wrong button!
Umm.. did I mean to do that?
Right, off to work again!
Wheeeee!
# before jumping out after launching from a station (note: this is different from jumping out of a fight; obviously you wouldn't say things like "I am running away from you" here),
To prosperity and beyond!
Engage engines, warped factor high!
Argh! I forgot to buy cargoooo!!
Money money money!
Now, where were we headed again? Ah yes.
Gizmo, could you kick the witchspace engines? We're supposed to be somewhere else by now.
# docking with the main station,
Docking computers engaged, now to engage the kettle!
Mmmm... coffee...
Ah, safe at last.
# chatter during flight,
(singing - badly) Here we are again, happy as can be...
Hrm... now.. you blocked my cruise control.. and you're not worth money! Go away!
Who let the trumble out of his cage?
I couldn't convince you to be a criminal could I?
You haven't seen a guy named Hesperus have you? I hear he's worth money...
# blowing an asteroid up,
Another day, another credit.
Oooh! Free money!
I wonder if these count as kills on my ranking?
# shoutouts at your attacker,
If your bounty is under thirty credits, please go away and be criminal elsewhere?
Oooh! Outlaws! Are you worth a decent bounty?
Damn you! Let me get a shot in edgeways will you?
Stop being so competent! My shields can't take all this work!
Oooh, now you're outlawed, and worth money!
Be a nice bad guy and drop dead would you?
# and if you are the attacker (either as a pirate, or as a hunter attacking offenders/fugitives, depending on which role you chose),
(singing) Money money money!
Oooh look! Free cargo on the way! Warm up the fuel scoops!
# hitting your opponent with your laser,
Take that!
Kerpow!
Gotcha you little swine!
You dodged into that one!
Stop dodging and let me shoot you!
# cloaking during a fight, if you don't want to cloak from the onset of the fight,
I'm running away and chickening out..
When danger reared it's ugly head, she bravely turned her tail and fled...
# using your ECM,
Bye bye missiles!
Oi! Quit wasting valuable cargo space on missiles will you?
And another investment pays off... for me that is!
# running away from a fight (injectors), if this is your habit,
This was nice, let's do it again when I have more shields!
I'm running away and chickening out..
When danger reared it's ugly head, she bravely turned her tail and fled...
# jumping out of a fight, if this is your habit,
Gotta go.. I ... urm... left the planet on...
Whoops! Wrong button!
# victory exclamations (when you killed your opponent),
Hah! Gotcha!
And another bounty swells my balance nicely!
Thank you for holding, please let me transfer you to eternity.
In space... no-one can hear you cha-cha-cha!
Damn, why couldn't you have been worth more money?
While you're on your way out of existance, please leave your cargo and valuables behind.
# last words
What do you mean the escape pod is broken?
What does this button do again?
Heeeelllp!!!!
August bank holiday! Fourth of July!! Second sunday of advent! what was that distress date again? Ah yes... Mayday!
Commander James Arthur Terrence Rumble, please stop chewing on that vital piece of...
Commander Monty, a Python Class Cruiser driver :D
Iron assed bulk haulers for the win!

Of the two trumbles which escaped today from Lave station, only 473 have been located....

Rock Hermit, ADCK

Shipdata.plist:

Code: Select all

"adck-is-a-rock-hermit" =
{
	like_ship = "rock-hermit";
	name = "Rock Hermit - ADCK";
};
OR

Code: Select all

<key>adck-is-a-rock-hermit</key>
<dict>
	<key>like_ship</key>
	<string>rock-hermit</string>
	<key>name</key>
	<string>Rock Hermit - ADCK</string>
</dict>
For whatever format you use, keeping it nice and simple.

info:
Full name = Ancient Dwarven Chaos Knight
Race = A small bearded man
Legal Standing = Clean
Insurance = NA, no capsule
Behaviour = Rock Hermit, Shipyard Owner

Catch-phrases:

*chatter during flight = "Damn kids get off mah lawn!"
*blowing an asteroid up = "Gold Gold Gold Gold Gold Gold"
*shoutouts at your attacker = "Ya call that a laser? Back in my day we had to walk 15 miles uphill in space-snow... (Unintelligible Rambling)"
*hitting your opponent with your laser = "Wait... you're not an asteroid... or are you?..."
*using your ECM = "Tell me you like my Cave"
*victory exclamations = "Better luck next time... or not.. seeing as your dead... wait a minute, If you're dead... then who am I talking to?"
*last words = "With my last breath I curse Zoidberg"

Although, half of the above wouldn't work as Rock Hermits don't have weapons on their rock... perhaps give me a standard Cobra 1 Miner that I leave the Station in? :P
