Migrating save from 1.65 to 1.73.4

Post by 33tango »

I recently started playing with version 1.65 because I couldn't get 1.73.4 to install. After trying again last night I got 1.73.4 to install and run. I want to bring my 1.65 save game over, I copied it from the old one before updating to the new version, putting it in the folder C:\Program Files\Oolite\oolite.app\oolite-saves but it doesn't show up when I try and load it in the game.

Is there a trick to this, or is it not possible to carry over saved games?

Thanks!

Save-games should be portable.

Please verify where your new install of Oolite is - I think the new versions default to installing directory to C:\ (ie, "C:\oolite.app" ? ) under Windows, so the saves directory will be there as well.

You can put your saves anywhere you want really, but then you have to navigate to them. Oolite will remember the path though, so you'll only need to do it once.
The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Even both ways. You can play on 1.65 with games saved with 1.73.

The new default directory for windows (to avoid Vista's 'helpful features') is C:\Oolite, and the default save games directory is

Code: Select all

C:\Oolite\oolite.app\oolite-saves

Hello 33tango,
too late at night to think straight.
This is a very common thing with Oolite commanders.
Have you considered it's always night in space, this could be a cause.

p.s. It's a good idea to save your saves on a cd too, just in case something goes really wrong. Oh, oxp's also, saves having to download them again.
LOOK OUT!!!
OOPS..
"Press Space" Commander
If you do not see "Press Space" more often than you want.. Your not trying!
