What version of Mac OS X do you use? (redux)

Plus the current version of eazyDraw will definitely import macDraw files. You can always download the free trial if you don't believe it. So if you've been wanting to upgrade, there's no reason not to!

Although we tend to use fairly small currency units, £ € etc. in days gone by much larger units were available, even larger than 500€ note

the first £1bn+ deal was done c.1890 (by an individual) (who owned a private bank) - converting via average weekly earnings, or potatoes, that is quite a large sum, but long ago currency units such as the Roman Gold Talent, for example, were very large expressed in any Earth currency of today. This is clear evidence of interstellar trade in recent historical times. I do not believe it has ceased.

I don't doubt you, just didn't have AppleWorks any more to install!
Once 10.3.9 re-installed, everything was fine.
Also, I now have a copy of AppleWorks obtained in the States.
Leopard was installed by AppleCentre, and came back with no AppleWorks. None of their display models would read any of my files (except spreadsheets). They did not re-install AppleWorks.

Intaglio will be the best option.. (?) (it didn't like opening ClarisWorks files, though)

We haven't succeeded with this, either using free download or at reseller on either my hardware or theirs.

None of this bothers me now.
I've seen the octo-core MacPro

I can access files with Panther

HOWEVER it is very good to hear that installing some sort of Leopard won't blitz MacDraw. Thank-you for all interesting comments, which I do appreciate, and act upon. I am tempted to rehabilitate Leopard from coaster status and give it a go.

While my copy of Snow Leopard is spending its weekend at a post office depot (why release it on a Friday?) the release notes for the Snow Leopard development tools have been released, and as expected developing for 10.3.9 is not supported. There is no mention of using a previous version of Xcode with Snow Leopard (as you can with Leopard to develop for 10.2.8). I’ve asked for official clarification on this.

Even if using an old version of Xcode is supported, I’ll certainly be wanting to spend my time in the new one, so there’s also a question of how much trouble it’ll be to move a project between the two. There are also things that would be much easier to do if 10.3.9 is dropped, such as Sparkle automatic updates.

Bottom line: 10.3.9 support from now until MSNR is not a given.

Edit: the official answer is that it’ll probably kinda work if I avoid the bits that crash.
