Could happen, I knew a postgrad who did a stint with the British Antarctic Survey and he was the Quake player I ever met, says that's where he learned! Can't be much else to do after all. :-)

(Note: I am probably the worst Quake player I ever met.)

I'm the worst Quake (3) player I ever met - we should definitely not get together on-line!

I used to specialise in a panicked run into the corner before blowing myself up with the rocket launcher...

Perhaps that's another common trait amongst Oolite players - in a former life we were/are rubbish at FPS type games (although I still like playing them - Urban Terror for example - a total conversion for Q3A and I know Pangloss was playing a lot of Tremulous - a Linux game based on the ioQuake engine)

Sounds like myself

Though I have to admit that some places in the OSE Ooniverse will have a certain Quake-esque feel to them

At least no one can seriously say that I make the game too easy with the higher-end (uber?) player ships any more 8)

I have managed to blow myself up with my own missile I inadvertently caught up with on injectors on occasion :?

:D

I like Open Arena and Nexuiz myself. Spent too much of my life playing Gunz the duel was quite good at that one.

I've created one of those Google map things so we can have a tracker of where everyone lives! I've been very precise cos I have no fear.

Oolite Parties at my place!

the map is here:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=

You'll probably have to log in at or get an account with google to use it though.

Cool 8)
I can even see the docking spot for the ship. (I did not need to do a log-in to get the info. Probably it is only needed for defining it)

Cool! Is there anyway we can add our own locations to your map? (os should we all send you our locations and you can add them for us?  )

Your link is broken, here it is fixed...

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Thanks, Diziet, I thought it was me that was broken.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

If Selezen is getting the same 'Summer' weather as we're having over here, watering the hanging baskets won't be an issue, rather stopping them floating away down the road like mini coracles will be :)
