Lock on magnification

Is it possible to have a screen pop up on the display when you lock onto a distant ship, the screen would show a clear shot of the ship you are targeting

That's an excellent idea - but no - such functionality is definitely not in the current release and I can't imagine such changes would be made prior to the MNSR (Mythical Next Stable Release).
