I've been edgy about adding Realistic Shipyards for two reasons. First is the very large number of OXPs that you can't use alongside it. Second, its changes and additions are extensive and I'm not sure if I'd like all of them. In particular, I don't much care for having Star Wars and Star Trek ships in Oolite. They just don't fit properly.

I'd have tried out Neolite before now, but I can't seem to find a download link for it.
For Neolite, check Simon_B's sig - he's got a link to his webpage where he does host it.

RS does work fine with other OXPs - those which should not be added are those which are included!

Concerning the ships, I understand your point. I'm using the OSE test release and have removed some of those flasher-rich ships like the Constitution. It's simply enough to remove those ships from the plist file.

That's what I meant. However, there are so many that are included that it will take some time to make sure that I don't have any included.

Thank you for pointing me to the Neolite download, by the way. Why doesn't it have a Wiki link yet? For that matter, it doesn't even have an entry yet on the OXP page.

If anyone could suggest an alternative way I could get hold of the 1.72.2 exe that would be appreciated.
I have temporarily uploaded the Windows installer for v1.72.2 to http://77.49.222.186/Marmagka/056eedec0 ... 2-test.exe
The link will be valid for 15 days. Hope this helps.
Awesome, that did it. System Redux and Welcome Mat now working, thanks.

Getting back to you on Galactic Navy. I have three words to say: Target. Rich. Environment.

Seriously, these Galactic Navy Mission provide you with boatloads of targets to shoot.

Are you asking me? If so, the targets that Galactic Navy.oxp provides are pirates and Thargoids, depending on the mission.

Thargoid missions especially have lots of targets. After all of the mother ships are destroyed, there are oh so many Thargons to deal with. Scoop or shoot, your option. The first is lucrative, the second less so (not always! I've seen some bounties paid out that are higher than the GalNavy's purchase price) but it increases your elite rating.

The Galactic Navy OXP is proving to be one of my favorite mission OXPs, hands down. I love the space opera-esque battles alongside a contingent of Naval Reserve allies (and any other friendlies who happened to spawn in), and it's a fantastic way to rack up a lot of kills, provided you don't blow up. Random Hits and UPS Courier are nice too.

There is a new permanent alternate download site available.. see this topic.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Hey thanks guys :) <bows> great stuff- i have the 1.72.2 test release now, i just need to get it working :? :D

I have an opening screen with a spinning mk3 cobra , and control panel - but nothing else, and the cobra is a spinning white sillouette.
I have followed the instructions in the Readme file, which suggested editing the " .GNUstepDefault" file , which i have done - using both of the example scripts- but with no joy.

Hello, I have downloaded 1.72 to both my laptop and PC. The laptop (Vista) version runs much better and smoother but the PC (XP) version is jolting when flying around. The PC has a much higher spec than the laptop...Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris
