I like it too, but why does there need to be one of these ugly docking boxes? Perhaps it would be nicer to define a docking bay without defining the walls in a side tube. You might also have several of those.

Just random thoughts.

Best wishes,

You mean on the outside? I thought that too but the docking bay is under the Cruiserbay for practical purposes. I can adapt the model though.

I'm searching a bit for help now on how to finish the station and bring it ingame. I'm offering the model now to anyone who can bring it ingame and make a useful station out of it and to shade it. Also modifying is allowed as long as my work isn't all for nothing.

Maybe it's better to have an open player dock. Then also larger cruisers could dock?

Anyone?

If so I'm offering a link to download the model and texture.

Interior view. Done a 'runway' texture now

Hmm I'm seeing a lot of curves here, which make the player port look a little blocky. Maybe cover it in the same way canery warf station is covered?

So in more of a cut off stretched oval dome rather than a square block?

Maybe the same way I did it for Lave Academy? There is a "docking area" which is spherical shaped at the centre of the tube through the model (similar design to yours). Once the ship is within this sphere then you dock.

You just need to set a suitable docking radius in the shipdata.plist, no explicit dock sub-entity is needed (have a look in the OXP's shipdata for details).

yes that's what I thought, but it needs 2 docks. 1 npc cruiser dock above the player dock and a normal station dock (the block building)
Is that Doable? I can also make the player dock open like an aircraft carrier.

I suggest making the smaller standard dock open like an aircraft carrier!

And when you're already at creating a dock for NPC carriers, why not make it work for player ships, too?

The big ships maybe don't need to "dock" per se, just be removed when they get to a suitable position so that they appear to dock?

Or alternatively just have everyone dock in the same radius, and just use your modelling to "make" two docks?

I don't want the cruiser to be removed. It would be an awesome sight if a cruiser is in the dock.

However player ships can happily be removed. I think I'm keeping the closed player dock for that reason.

Any ship that docks is removed (or conversely just appears if it's launched). So your big ships won't actually dock, they'll just come to a suitable position and then stop.

And you won't be removing the player ship, as you'll be in it (if you player.ship.remove() it's called a space-bar moment). Personally if it were me doing it I would still just have one dock using a dock_radius sphere (as Lave Academy). I'm not 100% sure what would happen if you just moved a ship into that sphere via a target position rather than a docking request, whether it would dock or not (equivalent to manually docking an NPC via waypoint flight).

I've sent a pm to Griff with a question to look at the model. To my knowledge Griff models in another package than Wings 3d. I'il send you the link to the package too. So if you got time you can experiment a bit.

Sorry for the fact that I do not master all aspect of model making and scripting and thank you for being patient with me

Back to the Orisis Class. Update on the Ferry Hull. I think the windows are now more to scale of the ship. The Bridge windows are bigger. Note the illustration of Zadies on the bow. The planet on the front is Tianve. Also made a more realistic hull.

Yes. We can assume the cargo is moved around the station and then sent to smaller ships that dock in the rings that stick out from the outer side of the big tube.

That or have a semi-open docking bay for player ships, perhaps with a few horizontal crossbeams instead of a runway box. The current runway seems rather out of place, and also prevents the player from getting an inside look at the station and the big ship when docking. This is a waste of pretty modelling :).

Best wishes,
Oscar

If a player version of the Orisis class is released what specs does such a ships have? Can anyone do a guess for speed, strength energy reload and Cargo capacity and so on?

I think a player also only can buy it then at the new upcoming station as this has a cruiser dock.

I like the new window size - suddenly the ship looks much bigger!

So, is Oo-Go going to be a YAH ad?
