If IIRC, the afterburner sound starts with a few milliseconds of silence, ramps up smoothly, then ramps down at the same rate to end with a few milliseconds of silence again. Silence + silence doesn't produce any pops!
Negative - my sample also starts and ends with silence - it actually loops midway through the sample, and finishes the sample on release of the thruster button. There's a loop point in there somewhere. I might have to tinker or leave it as it is unless someone can helpfully give me the loop details so I can replicate a beefier sound.
