Spoilerific question below; highlight text to reveal:
I've been tasked with rescuing the ambassador. Following "D" on the space compass gives me a prisoner transporter + escorts (military rays) going to an astromine. In two attempts, I only ended up rescuing slaves, with no change to the mission text. Attempt #1 was ship-by-ship elimination, gently probing the transporter for something like eight sets of three escape pods(!). Attempt #2 just energy-bombed the group and a couple of laser zaps to pop open the transporter, giving one set of three escape pods. So where's the ambassador?
btw, the transport is named both DK-332 and DK-322, one by the space station and one by the scanner
If you destroy the amabassador's ship you should find an escape pod is released that is not of the standard type but a is communist version, and this is the ambassador. It may say you've scooped slaves when you pick it up, because I didn't do any detailed scripting for that bit. None of the mission text changes at this point; you have to meet your contact at the next location.
The DK-332 thing is probably just a typo on my part.

<spoiler>I hoovered up all nine escape pods (I counted carefully!) from the DK-322/332. Each looked normal. Each reported that I had rescued {random name}. Each added 1t to my inventory of slaves. And each one's insurance paid out when I returned to Dicebe. When back in Dicebe, F6 still shows Raceedat as the place to be; but when returning (again) to Raceedat, the "D" is no longer on my space compass and so I figure there's nothing left for me to do.
Prior to undertaking the mission, I have the following in my save file:
<key>mission_trident_down</key>
<string>ATURESCUE</string>
<key>mission_trident_down_jumpcount</key>
<string>12</string>
<key>trident_down</key>
<string>Rescue the Dicebean ambassador from the #Raceedat Security Police
The '#' isn't really there: in fact, it's an unprintable character. It renders in Oolite as an anarchy "A". I've seen it in a couple of other places. That, surely, is a bug: although manually editing it out of the save file didn't help me. In fact, post-edit, no escape pods were jettisoned; I just got 4t Luxuries (... but I suppose I was a bit rough with the transporter for this, the zillionth attempt).</spoiler>
