Forgot I was going out for dinner tonight! Not proving as straightforward as I thought it would! Will have a look later.

News from the front!!!!

In the last 2 days I have

1.Correct a bug in the constoreAI. (Thanks Eric!!!)
It seems that Dr Nil tried to place constores in a way that always their entrance will face the witchspace buoy via the AI of the station. I am wondering why? That is very unorthodox and causes the station to react in a strange way. In the original constores (that do not rotate) sometimes had made them to rotate like mad and in our case (The Griff Constores, that do rotate) makes them sometimes not to rotate at all and sometimes to rotate very slowly

2.Correct some imperfections in the script
The original script was simple and efficient but it has some serious drawbacks. I have transformed it into JS and now it is faster and also more flexible and reliable. The changes are that now it checks if the constore already exists before spawning it (In the past we had some issues with multiply constores near the witchspace buoy) and also have a second condition for spawning the constore if the player launches from a station.

3.Increase the maximum defenders of the station from 2 to 8 and also increase the maximum energy from 1500 to 2000. That will make the station more difficult to be destroyed

4.And finally the constores now have their own defenders. Well for the time being their defenders just have a deferent name (sidewinder Pi-42 security, sidewinder tescoo security ect). The model is the sidewinder defender from HoopyCasino but I am going to need 4 skins (pngs) in deferent colors with the firm name of each company.

Hi Ark,

quick fix for the Pi-42 sign.

Working on "Star" next.

With regards to ship textures - I would like to do the Tescoo Oxpress ship - simply because I lost my incomplete "Tescoo Hauler" OXP when my last HD failed in between backups. (see: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=2888)

Anyway, here's the Pi-42 signs:

Time permitting I will have a go at all four ships. If anybody else wants to have a go feel free but please leave me the Tescoo defender!

Time permitting do you want additional ad-rings?

@Griff - is it possible to do multiframe versions of the ad-rings - i.e. two 1024x64 images on top of each other making a 1024x128 and using the same technique used for the other multiframe ads, switch between them (at a much slower frame rate) - just a thought...

Star - almost done - may get it out tonight...

Glad the new Pi-42 is to your liking!

Two sizes for the Star Ad - 2 Frame (working on a 4 frame variant)

Lots of white background but difficult to do anything about it without fundamentally changing the nature of Ad (although I did try) given its orientation wrt the background. Use these as place holders while I think some more...

Well set D is finished (I had to bypass set C since the Mall Wart con store is there and I do not have the Mall Wart ad yet)

Set D: In the Star version of the station there are the Star, lobbies_cancan (the first version) and cocktail_glass ads.

@DaddyHoggy: Do you want the screenshot now or after replacing the adring with the one you are preparing? (You are preparing an adring for the star station. Do you? )
Do not worry about the white background in the star ad (somehow the star manages to hide it). And yes I agree with you, we want those firm ads as close to the original ones since it is the only thing that connects the old constores with the new ones.

And finally do not worry about the time. Nobody is pressing us as we are just enjoying ourselves :D .

I know I'm just throwing random designs in here. So I thought I'd do another one.

Sunooco is the fuel of choice in stations around the 12 Galaxies. Sure, you can get your hydrogen plasma fresh and hot at any star... but Sunooco Race Fuels are delivered pre-heated into your tank for those times when getting to the star to top up is just too much trouble. Our hydrogen delivery system delivers you hot plasma with a core temperature of over 15,000 degrees Kelvin, as hot as the surface of a hot bright Sun. This speeds up the injection process, helping to create a stable hole into witchspace better than conventional hydrogen that has had time to cool.

Image

Sunooco is pleased to sponsor the Ring Racing League, and hopes to expand its base beyond the current two systems.

Image

Look for our banner at a trading post near you (maybe).

Image

Remember: Sunooco Race Fuels. As hot as a Sun, for your convenience.

Please use Sunooco fuels within 30 minutes of refueling for best results.

If you invert the colors/colours (damn, been living over here too long), alter the Hue a full 180, and turn down the brightness, you get the same thing on a black background.

If it is, I will animate something. Just point me to the logos you want to include (or ask me to come up with some new stuff).

BTW, from where / when will I be able to download the OXP for this?

Those are the 2 versions of the star constore. We have to decide if the star ad will be in white or black font. I have added the adring from pangloss in order to test it.

Image
Image

@Pangloss: Your adring looks great at a static image but bear in mind that although the adring is moving from the right to the left the station itself rotates at the opposite position with at least twice the speed so avoid banners unless you want to write something in Arabic. This issue exits also in the adring of daddyHoggy but is far less profound.

Unfortunately the oxp exists only in my hard disk for the simple reason that it is not ready yet!!!!!

@DaddyHoggy: And finally a tescoo defender asking politely for the whereabouts of its png!!!!

@Ark/Pangloss - The Black Star Logo looks great and it's a good tip to remember - so I may use that! However, the white version is more in keeping with the actual RL 'vert and the original constore...

@Ark/Pangloss - re: ad-ring, due to the pointing out by Ark about the counter-rotation of the station wrt to ad-ring rotation there will be a slight delay in the production of a new ad-ring!

There will be a very simple Tescoo Defender skin hopefully by tomorrow, with a series of more complicated ones to follow - once Mall Wart is out of the way!

I don't know whether I should be relieved that we're "being left to it" with this potential OXP or slightly disappointed that it hasn't generated more discussion...

@Ark: the white one looks better. More light is needed to attract the eye around the structure.

I did another ring. Thanks to all those that I borrowed from (the RemLok design is mine).

Image

Just a thought: will transparencies BE transparent on any of the PNGs? Because if so, I think I can have a bit of fun. Ads with the texture of the trading post visible through the gaps, for example.

Yeah, COME ON, Oolovers. Get some designs in!

Actually, I like the idea of having my artwork universally seen in the game. Ego stroke, ego stroke.

Arabic... Mayhaps we should have different languages for ads?
Or maybe we could have government messages, like those on the billboards, that are from the Ad Cooncil?....
I shot him back first. That is to say, I read his mind and fired before he would have fired on me. No, sir, he wasn't a fugitive.
