The basic ones yes, if you have a special hud which has pngs on screen like fighter hud for instance. Then the stats will disappear but not the png images.

Indeed, that's what I wanted to say, too.
Could that be changed in the code, please?

Sweet. How would I take advantage of this fine new upgrade? redownload 1.72? Or am I being a bit special?

Two options:
1) Wait for 1.72.2 or 1.73, whichever we decide to release next (I would personally consider 1.72.2 the preferable next release as soon as the disappearing buoys bug gets squashed).
2) Build from source the 1.72-maintenance or trunk branches. Instructions on how this is done can be found in the Wiki.

Well that's got my 2009 off to a cracking start!
No more dicking about, tomorrow (later today) I download and install the XP version of Oolite 1.72!

If that proves impossible... Anyone need a texture for a Gas Giant?
Pinged one of the devs today about texturing and scripting stars... "None of this is ever likely to happen." Oh well, it was fun for a few days.

Perhaps Frame for his solar systems oxp. You find two threads about that in the Expansions forum.

*entranced by griff ships as always. drools on keyboard*
I shot him back first. That is to say, I read his mind and fired before he would have fired on me. No, sir, he wasn't a fugitive.

I see a carrier over there - dock on it before it ASPLODE!
What would happen if a carrier exploded while you were on it? I know game world continues outside while you are docked..
