Moving house

Post by JohnnyBoy »

It's been a long wait, but I'm finally getting out of Cleveland. On the 29th of December, I'm moving to West Sussex in the south of England.

Now I'm just looking for enough boxes to hold all of the crap that I've accumulated over the past 4 years...

Seems to be a good way to avoid a post-holiday depression.

Or to increase it, depending on what goes wrong?

Hooray for JohnnyBoy - another Northerner to dilute these shandy-drinking softy southerners!

I've moved three times in the last 14 years - some of the boxes in the loft have never been opened - just transferred from loft to loft - I've promised next time - I'll throw them out BEFORE moving house!

Yeah, I know, I know. Moving house between Xmas and New Year's seems like a strange thing to do... but that was the earliest available date on the calendar, and I'm keen to get the hell out of here!

Thank you, DH! It's nice to find someone who's as enthusiastic about my house move as I am... :D

TBH, I can't wait to get to the south. I plan to sit on Bognor beach wearing my knotted hanky and eating my stottie... 8)

One is delighted to welcome you to the South-East old boy, I trust you will conduct yourself with appropriate decorum?

Greetings and felicitations,

Drew.

Fear not, old chap. I grew up in the south-east and am fully conversant with southern customs. In fact, I'm rather looking forward to living in a part of the world where kids won't pelt my car with sand...

...won't throw eggs at my windows...

...or anything that's heavier than an egg...

So, yeah. I'm looking forward to living in the south... :)

@JB - ah yes, the normal walk home from the pub on a Friday/Saturday night for the local misunderstood yoof...

Do I miss my nights out in Hartlepool/Middlesbrough/Darlo' etc? - erm, no!

@DH - You speak with the voice of experience! I'm tickled pink when I hear people talk about the strong sense of community of the north-east -- they've obviously never lived up here...

@JB - I visited my folks in the land of the monkey hanger last weekend and stayed at my sisters - early one morning of the second day there was a knock at the door - I opened it to find somebody looking slightly bemused/perturbed:

"Your not the bloke who normally sells cheap baccy", she says.
"He's moved," I reply (my sister moved in just two weeks ago)
"OK," disheartened, then rallying, "Don't s'pose you wanna buy any Homebase or B&Q vouchers do ya, only two quid for a tenners worth?"
"Erm, no thank-you"
"Suit yersel'"

stomps off baccy-less....

@DH - LOL! That's the nearest that the north-east gets to "self-employment". I've also got a few council estate "entrepreneurs" on my street... ;)

I've made it south, but I haven't got a broadband connection yet, hence the long absence. Just borrowing time on a friend's machine to type this.

Once I've got a connection I'll be back. Hope you're all well, talk soon.

Moved in an anaconda?
I shot him back first. That is to say, I read his mind and fired before he would have fired on me. No, sir, he wasn't a fugitive.
