Well Hello

Post by Simon B »

Imagine my delight at finding that Elite is well and thriving as a FOSS project - Free Software no less. But, of course, you don't need to imagine, you've been exactly where I am.

Intros: I am an eldritch old-school hacker living on a clifftop overlooking the Pacific. With me is a wifie and three (count-em) cats.

Welcome aboard! Plenty to enjoy - I'm quite envious, thinking of all the good stuff you'll be enjoying. 8)

If you're just getting started might I recommend the following add ons (OXPs in Oolite parlance) to the standard game which give you the 'Elite' you always wanted - the one from 'The Dark Wheel' Novella...

Lave, Tionisla Orbital Graveyard, Space Dredgers, Genships...

Lots more very worthy stuff, but let's not overwhelm you to start with...

If you'll excuse the shameless self promotion (ahem ), I've also written a Novella for Oolite which is designed to educate the Oolite player with how things have moved on since Elite... Status Quo. Sequel in the works atm...

Edit : From your other posts it's clear your not a newbie to Oolite, just to posting, so you probably know all this stuff already!!

But welcome once again!

Cheers,

Drew.
