Oolite v 1.71.2: Slowdown bug

Post by Cmdr Wyvern »

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this so far...

Normal framerate for 1.71.2 is around 50-60 FPS according to the shift-F framerate counter, which is the same I got for 1.65.
But at random during play, the framerate suddenly drops to 4-7 FPS and play becomes laggy for a half a minute or so, then the framerate rises back to normal and all is well.
I tried playing with the shader level, which had no effect on the problem.
I tried removing OXPs, restarting with shift held down each time. The problem occurred even when all OXPs were removed.

I'm going to try increasing the pagefile size and see if that helps.

Windows version on XP Pro SP2.
1.5 ghz Athalon
768MB RAM
Geforce FX 5200 Ultra with 128MB

Yes, it's an old machine, but it plays most games well enough.

Aahh... So it wasn't just me, and happened regardless of platform, number of OXPs or machine.
Good to know you've got it fixed, AC. :) I'll live with it till 1.72, if simply replacing the dodgy AI plist file with the fixed one isn't a solution.
