I like that addition. Makes sense.

It does make sense, it's kind of like in the 'Old West' when a big, bad outlaw rides into town. The sheriff and his deputies ride out to intercept and arrest him before he starts making trouble. Of course, in this way, the environs of 'Boot Hill' got a little bit more crowded.

Anarchies.oxp will have something similar: A couple of bounty hunters waiting for you if you have become naughty enough! And they attack on sighting!

I think it is a good idea. I'd like to see also more sophisticated criminal record - if you do something _really_ bad like shooting down passenger transport, military carrier or orbital station and the police gets the evidence, it should be not *that* easy to clean it.

Maybe it is possible to award the player extra offender points for destroying something big? As a death action or something...

best wishes,
Oscar

I like that even better. Doesn't do for the police to begin a firefight near a station. Especially if you can outsource it to professionals who take all the risk in fighting a notorious criminal...

Would it be possible to add a "Wanted" notice as a comms message, so that you are aware that you are no ordinary fugitive from justice and that there is a price on your head?!

Actually, what would be nice would be to be able to see one's legal status by pressing a key.

As it is you have to examine the save file.

One could then _really_ game the system by hovering around an "acceptable" status, ie a balance of who comes after you, can you autodock and can you cope with the people who think that the galaxy would be a better place without you.

The status info clean/offender/fugitive should be enough and is available at keystroke (5).

Auto-dock is only refused to fugitive players.

Stations don't scan for offenders. Only when attacked directly the status is checked.

Police and hunter ships look for all ships with offender status. (They do not only look for ships they actually see shooting as suggested above) But this offender scan is a randomised scan. The higher the offending status the more likely a ship is found, but even with 1 offending point one can (and will be) be found if one waits long enough nearby a police or hunter ship.

Only the clean status (zero offending points) really means you are save from law enforcing ships.

I still think a comms message for really naughty commanders would be good, although I suspect we'd all fit into that category at some stage. I tend to try and remain clean these days cos I'm a boring old fart really.

(untill someone upsets me)............
