A Moment of Dignified Silence, Ladies and Gentlemen, Please

Post by Captain Hesperus »

On this day 365 days ago, our Glorious Master and Commander Giles Williams a.k.a. aegidian, stepped back from the devving of this, our obsessive addictive favourite game, Oolite to rest his fevered mind and address long-neglected issues in Real Life®™.

I'd like to take this moment to say another big
Thank You
to Giles for his blood, sweat, tears, hard work and above all, vision in creating probably the best space sim game since Elite.

I'd also like to give a big Thanks! to Ahruman, another_commander, Commander McLane, Eric Walsh, and all the others who have continued Giles' work and taken us from Oolite 1.65 up to 1.69.1(.1?), adding new and exciting toys to make the Oolite Experience that little bit more WOW!!! I'm sure that if Giles had a peek (and I'm sure he does every so often!) he'd be proud to see all the advancements and the continued interest in this project.

Thanks again, I love you guys.

Aw, shucks.

I’d particularly like to add to that list another_commander, who I basically mugged and shanghaied into maintaining the Windows port after Dajt, too, got distracted by the siren call of the outside world.

Yes... Great game, especially for those of us who try to stay 100% free (as in freedom and beer) software.

Indeed!

I can say increment: thanks for creating the ooniverse which gravity keeps me orbiting in a learning-curve of code.
