Lights

Post by Killer Wolf »

Quickie - is it possible to create/place light sources in Oolite? Not "flasher" subents, but actual lights, to say light up areas on a shadow side of a moon? i'm not sure how Oolite deals w/ lights in general, as you can have shadowy stations on the dark side of a planet, but you can still see the recessed docking port fairly clear.

I believe lights and self-shadowing were on the "to do" list, but then Aegidian took a prolonged vacation from the project... We'd need another coder to make such changes, and anyone willing to take the project would naturally spend ages just getting to know the code as it is...

What you can do instead is tweaking the ambient_light for your system, so everything is better visible.
