Stuff about missions/oxps I guess

Post by Tambourine »

So I have some feedback on missions and/or oxps

1) Trident Down
- I think I have completed it a long time ago, taking a "good" path where I got a medal. But this time around, I sided with the ATU, I think, and then there was this mission where I was instructed to escort those B-2 looking bombers against a space station. What happened was that the system spawned six million police fighters which decimated the bombers, and attacking the enemies naturally increased my criminal rating. I really, really, really, really, really don't think this was intended behaviour! Luckily, I managed to reset the mission by leaving the system and trying again, something which seems equally buggy when you think about it. This time, the bombers destroyed the station with quirium missiles, accompanied by a huge sound effect. No police vessels. Come to think of it, there should have been a reasonable amount of communist police vessels, not ingame police viper ships which initially spawned.
- The new ships from the OXPs that are required by Trident Down never seem to spawn by themselves. I think I have seen a total of one Saiph Interceptor spawn randomly as opposed to via OXP script, and I'm in Galaxy 5 by now
- After a break from playing, I came back to see "Wait for further instructions from the ATU." Well, I waited and waited, doing trading but nothing happened. Doing some digging, it appeared that I had missed a comm message that I should get back to Raceedat. However, this particular part of the script leaves absolutely no permanent instruction or planet highlight for the player! A comm message is the easiest thing to miss in this game! Especially if you get it when you're scanning for enemy ships or figuring other stuff out!

2) Station Dock Control
- Sometimes the MFD showing the ship list opens up automatically, which sucks, because it would be better if it was player input only
- It displays wrong ship list for Hoopy Casino or just spawns wrong ships. Instead of the ships which were listed (in MFD), a Hoopy Casino spawned 12 police ships.
So while this OXP gives a lot of "life" into the game, it also creates a problem because it sucks having to wait for the non-planetary stations to poop out all of their ships before docking in order to avoid a collision, and there's no way to auto-dock.

3) Hoopy Casino
Now that I understand blackjack rules, this OXP is so much better than before!

4) Cataclysm
This missions seems interesting. I've got all the bells and whistles on my ship, but it requires 5200 kills! I'm in G5 with less than 2000 kills so... (In Michael Jackson's voice: ) Hellloooooooooo?

5) Hyper Radio
so how do people get music in the latest version of the game? It says it requires CCL but will it break the game? It's a deprecated oxp

6) To catch a thargoid
Not sure if I've mentioned this oxp previously but I liked it, had to do a bit of hit and run against some thargoid groups iirc

7) Military Fiasco
I completed this on an older version of Oolite but left it out on current game, because it's no fun having to deal with the pencil shaped basilisk fighters to get the actual plot part start.

8) Black Sunspot
A clever, very very clever OXP but the very last battle is brutal for the wrong reasons.

Thank you for the feedback!

4) Cataclysm requires 5200 kills (and possibly being back in G1, too): Try OoCheat OXP

5) Hyper Radio: Just try adding in CCL:

Hyperradio seems to work fine in 1.90. Clean 1.90 install, and just Hyperradio, one of the channels (ST01 - Ambient), Cabal Common Library and Snoopers installed. Bought the licence to Hyperradio, launched, primed the Hyperradio equipment selected a channel, and got some music playing.

So, in its basic form, it seems to work.

2) Station Dock Control
...snip...

If a station is not GalCop-aligned, the MFD won't show the launch list. There is an option to change this (via Library Config), but it's off by default. So you were probably always seeing the main station list.
