Presuming that the artist's conception is at least vaguely accurate, it seems doubtful that this still applies:
Besides their abundance in the solar system, asteroids have many other advantages for human habitation, including their rock layers, which provide a natural shield against deadly cosmic radiation from the sun.

The asteroid, wrapped in the carbon nanotube bag, has been spun-up 'til it breaks apart and the rubble has then been shaped by the bag.


I think that's right - but my brain is a bit fuzzy as I've just spent an hour in an MRI scanner.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Ah, excellent, can you brain cells calculate the amount of energy required to spin an asteroid that fast and compare that to the energy requirements of building a small station? thanks in advance 8)
