@Cholmondely
Link on Roolite - your post with my translation.

Regarding two other posts - tomorrow I'll be working at my routine work in real reality. Maybe I'll do it on the weekend.

Thank you for this! Let's hope that the Roolite community finds it all of interest.

@Cholmondely
Your original message in Roolite was in a queue waiting approval. My bad. I'm actually one of two remaining forum members with moderator rights. We already have your post with my translation, so I deleted original post.
Your request for OXP translation was published using my account:
http://roolite.org/coriolis/viewtopic.p ... b10e244fad
And your post about textures with illumination maps was approved.
Regarding your post about OXP Hints - it will be good to transfere it into more appropriate thread. I think that http://roolite.org/coriolis/viewtopic.p ... b10e244fad will be good choice. Trying to do it, but failed. So you can just repost it into new thread and I'll approve updated post and delete old post.

Alas, when I was looking at Roolite before this post, Google Translate translated the Roolite site into English for me. This has ceased. If the OXP Hints is not easily transferrable, so be it. Posting it was difficult enough. Deleting it will be impossible for me until GT allows me to decipher the page.

The one other thing I was hoping to post was a note about Stranger's World:
1) That Alnivel's "SW Before Populators" oxz allows things (eg SLAPU's) to appear where they should in the vicinity of stars (https://www.dropbox.com/s/rckt7m0ct5pgx ... s.oxz?dl=1 : but does so at the cost of dismantling the dynamic orbits which Strangers World implements)
2) that Useful MFDs now gives an accurate Solar Wind readout.
3) And that Galactic Almanac gives a very amusing message when Stranger's World is operating and one first loads/reloads a Jameson.

I think I have an old account at Roolite, but it's probably been deactivated (and I certainly can't recall my logins).
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Post for translation and publishing on Roolite!
I wasn't sure about including all the links. Let me know if you want them.

Summary of recent Oolite activity for January 2024

1) Website.

Oolite.org is down and possibly virus-infected. Our new site (thanks to Roolite's Timer) has been "Oolite.space" since March 2023.

•Ahruman (oolite.org's maintainer) disappeared some time ago and had failed to pay the subscription. Our old site sold for $2860!

1a) Consequences for the in-game Expansions Manager.
•This means that the Expansions Manager needs to be pointed at the new address.
Solutions:
a) Download a recent nightly from our Github (https://github.com/OoliteProject) - only works properly for Windows, fails for AppleMac, Linux is being worked on (or try here for Windows: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5943)

b) Use Hiran's Oolite Starter - his Expansions Manager Manager

c) Change your in-game Expansions Manager to the new address (see https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.ph ... 85#p288785 and a_c's following post)

d) On an AppleMac do this with Terminal:
phkb wrote: Thu Dec 21, 2023 1:17 am
1. Open "Terminal", which can be done via the Launchpad (Terminal is in the "Utilities" group)
2. Type in this command exactly as shown:

Code: Select all

defaults write org.aegidian.oolite oxz-index-url http://addons.oolite.space/api/1.0/overview
Then press enter, and you're done.

2) Work on Nightlies/Oolite v.1.92
*Major improvements to graphics including support of HDR and the colour-blind, and other improvements for planets, etc.
*Ability to configure keyboard (better for Linux with Cyrillic keyboards)
*Ability to update all Expansions
*Other improvements

3) OXPs

3a) Revamped old favourites (almost all by Phkb)
*Cataclysm (Mission) - has been deprecated since Oolite v.1.76 - "a great example of a story-like mission"
*LoveCats (Mission)
*New Cargoes - problems since Oolite v.1.82 finally sorted out
*Tianve - has been revamped with a realistic pulsar, better textures and New Cargoes added in. A better texture for Tianve which includes dark-side city lights!
*New textures for Globe, Torus & Taranis stations
*New textures for Commies, Dictators & Feudal States - with more realistic joust wagering odds too
*Tionisla Chronicle Array - Alnivel has made this more compatible with the "Tionisla Reporter OXP" mission
*Telescope - cag has made this much more flexible (and complicated), even adding in a second MFD: you can set one for stations, another for ships

3b) New OXPS
Alnivel
- Route Planner OXP - makes the ANA much more flexible (adds more than the one destination)
- Interface Reordering OXP - allows reordering a lengthy F4 docked screen (and possibly even adding Cyrillic titles! - not tried this...)

Griff
- Griff has started producing SpecGloss textures for the core ships - 6 so far. The Sidewinder's textures get grubbier as its maintenance level deteriorates!

Killer Wolf
- a new Adder for Harder Start upgrades - Adder Mark III
- a massive new station with an incredible docking experience - Isis Interstellar

Redspear
- reintroducing some of the features of Classic Elite: Jane's Galactic Shipset & Fighter-Explorers
- Galactic Hyperdrive Reimagined - now resuable and takes time to travel (may spoil some missions)
- Comedy (needs translation!): Alien Systems & Solo's Alt Stations

Phkb
- Vimana-X HUD (the newest HUD with many working equipment lights)
- Expanded Weapon Info (gives information about lasers on the F3 screen - range, damage, overheating, etc.)
- Missile Summary (lists your missiles/bombs on the F5 screen)
- Retextures for WildShips Stations
- Tionisla Memorials (TOGY) - adds starbird memorials for Oolite community members Svengali & Ironfist
- Xenon UI SW Economy Addition (but does not identify the 3rd trade pole mining worlds as such)

3c) Experimental and unfinished
- Black Hole (by Phkb: with texture and position but needs game effects added - attraction/heat/equipment malfunction, etc)
