Betidi: The planet Betidi is famous for its inhabitants' exceptional love for food blenders but scourged by dreadful solar activity.
Which is the bit "scourged by dreadful solar activity"?
Rather reminds me of the Eric Zimmer "Dark Border" stories of a world split between white light goodness and black/red evil, with a shimmering moving curtain between the two.

Dumb pilot's question: if I wanted to adapt that to a planet of choice, is changing the planet number all I'd have to do?
Yep, just change the "[galaxyID] [planetID]" numbers pair at the top of planetinfo and you should be set. You may also want to add the atmosphere color in planetinfo if you want to achieve the exact same look. I've used the blue atmosphere which is Lave's default anyway.
Cool! Next question: if I was to download Coruscant from the above link, I could swap that texture into the pack, yes?
Unfortunately no, it is not that simple. You would need to prepare the downloaded texture pack for Oolite first (i.e. put the right maps in the right files and channels).
For the oolite_shaders to be enabled, all diffuse_maps used in a ( 1 ) model must be 'activated' with
spec-gloss maps and gloss values in the materials settings.
( in this case not only the dome or the asteroid but all textured used in the .dat [ multiple texturefiles used in 1 model ] )
