that's way more OTT fractally that i was thinking. i was thinking more like the deep sea creatures that have lines of rippling lights on them, like the aliens in The Abyss.
These thargoids use a custom shader and some sort of spectrum map, the shader kinda uses the spectrum to create a pulsating moving effect.
A subtler slower variant could be like those aliens/ships
