Any insightful answers to this? Are there any details in the limit (e.g. server signatures such as 'Apache 2.x' or 'nginx') ?

Winston got back to me with a question, and if any of you could help parse (I’m at work and can’t replicate ATM) :

Re: Oolite Wiki
Any details in the message expressing the limit that is at issue? Yes: the full message is as follows.
413 Request Entity Too Large
nginx/1.18.0
Re: Oolite Wiki
Word has just arrived from Cmdr Winston at HQ that the issue has been addressed and the limit upped.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Good job of the wiki wizards and Sir Winston, time to upload some pending OXP''s.

Re: Oolite Wiki
Apparently we are still having a problem: This file is bigger than the server is configured to allow. Maximum file size: 8 MB.
Certainly better than the 1 MB before, but still not exactly the 100 MB we had in the past.

Re: Oolite Wiki
Oh no. Ugh.
I hoped, since it stated 8 before but was actually 1, that it wasn't really the case.
I did appeal for the 100 number the last time, but guess I'll send another telegram upstairs to plead our case
[edit: –looking a little deeper]
Looking at the file upload logs, the limit must have been higher at this time last year, the largest being the Doxygen OoliteSource.oxz at 145MB, with 10 uploads larger than 100MB. There are in all some 250 uploads fall in the following bracket of 8-130MB, and 42 of them in the range 50-100MB.
Just getting a sense of the numbers, in preparation for formulating my appeal.
I also see a large number of files with lower version numbers that I suppose ought to get deleted in the name of housekeeping. The Extensions Manager can't access older versions, right, so maybe it should fall upon the authors to keep their previous version archive somewhere else?

Murgh, perhaps you are not talking about stuff stored at wiki.alioth.net. But, there, I have a load of old versions of my OXPs, and I don't need the old versions, but I see no way of deleting them. What I am saying is: I am happy for those old versions to be deleted.

Good housekeeping is important. I have a maid to do mine.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Oolite Wiki
That is the best way to do it. I had a little team back when I was a colonial prince on the subcontinent.
Yes, it's the wiki old file version repository that only admins and beurocrats can delete. There may be a few exceptions so I won't do anything hasty, but I imagine most would feel fine about removing outdated versions that can't even be accessed in the EM. I'll see about a way of doing it that checks agreement with the community first.UK_Eliter wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 11:13 amMurgh, perhaps you are not talking about stuff stored at wiki.alioth.net. But in more splendid news:
Winston was at it this morning. He had set it at 200MB, but there are so many configurations to keep aligned, he chased down the last one.
I just successfully uploaded a 10MB test oxz

A bit of that spirit lingered, I suppose, but Old Murgh is not that old. It was after The Raj. More Bollywood decadence.

A bit, yes - I was in India back in the '70s (and I was most definitely not hunting tigers).
