Re: GalCop logo
Am liking the one with the stars but it is missing something that definitively defines it as the GalCop logo. Perhaps the word "GALCOP" between the tops of the two side branches? With that word being there nothing is left to chance as to whom it represents. Let us not even discuss font usage as that will only lead to more argument than agreement. Best to leave that up to the artist in question as it is their work and therefore their decision.

But in which language?Nite Owl wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 7:59 pmAm liking the one with the stars but it is missing something that definitively defines it as the GalCop logo. And in which script (demotic/hieratic/cursive/miniscule etc)?
Might it not be best not to select one over others? Both Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy and the Galactic Navy both prefer inarticulate logos although their poorer cousin, the GalCop (Police), do seem to be an exception. But then of course, they are system-based (and partly financed), so mayhap that is the result of systemic infection, and their marque would vary linguistically from system to system.
Meseems that the noble aviatic personage emblazoned on the marque clearly marks it as GalCop to any sentient species throughout The Eight using ocular identificatory methodology.
Edited to include suitable polysyllabic nomenclature to facilitate comprehension by the Galactic bureaucracies.

Re: GalCop logo
I agree; I think something as ubiquitous as the GalCop symbol doesn't need to spell it out, as well. Countries don't tend to put their names on their flags. And plenty of corporations - e.g. Apple, or Penguin - are confident enough to use stand-alone logos without lettering.Cholmondely wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 8:39 pmMight it not be best not to select one over others? CBR: Thank you for taking the time to do this. It does help when one is able to visually compare the options!

All this talk of logos brings to mind KZ9999's work on logos and rank badges.
Alas, they were never used (except for on my hud and splashscreen).

Re: GalCop logo
Well, I do like Nite Owl's version, looks nice. While I do not believe that it will be part of the core game we could put it up on the wiki page so that OXP developers could use it for future textures. At least I had this hope when I designed the GalCop police logo.
Edit:
my daily version, dark blue instead of black and new form

My 'daily' remix
All doodlin aside, I think if you clean up the one without text, you have a good 'universal' logo.

Re: GalCop logo
does a circular GALCOP fits on top of this one? No necessarily that big. Just a hint for new players.
Dark blue ones are my favorite.

Re: GalCop logo
Ain't that the truth - especially as regards the Oolite icon, which was far superior to what we ended up with.

It was where I found the "filling" for the new Law page on our wiki

Re: GalCop logo
Took-a-look at your GALCOP police logo very nice lettering but I believe the global co-operation it's from does not play nice in this regardmontana05 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 11:23 pm
