That's the one that gets separated lasers, isn't it?
Note about Separated Lasers the needed distance for separation (to do not suffer multiple heat when firing) is calculated in 3D, so not only the distance in x-axis counts, but y and z-axises too. When the weapon positions are in the same level in the vertical y-axis, you can use the Pythagorean theorem on the differences of x and z coordinates to determine the exact distance.

Most lasers need 30m, but some (the new better ones) need 50m for separation, as you can see in the second column in this table.

Chimera Gunship's forward center laser position is 68m far in the z axis from the side ones, so the smallest distance is 63m between the x coordinates of the two side lasers, eligible for the 50m separation.

I have a suggestion for the aft lasers below: if you move the firing position of one at least 48m forwad in the z-axis, you can get separated aft lasers too and the laser beam visually still start within the hull.

Code: Select all

		"weapon_position_forward" =         // triple fore lasers, 50 m seperated
		(
			"31.5 9.3 -11.0",
			"0.0 7.0 57.0",
			"-31.5 9.3 -11.0"
		);
		"weapon_position_aft" =             // double rear lasers, 50 m seperated
		(
			"8.0 -1.0 -38.0",
			"-8.0 -1.0 10.0"
		);

Thanks a lot Norby,
my current assigment is:

Code: Select all

"weapon_position_forward" =         // triple fore lasers, 30 m seperated
(
	"31.5 9.3 -11.0",
	"0.0 7.0 57.0",
	"-31.5 9.3 -11.0"
);
"weapon_position_aft" = // double rear lasers, not seperated
(
	"8.0 -1.0 -38.0",
	"-8.0 -1.0 -38.0"
);
but your suggestion sounds a lot better. I think with the next update I will include your positions. :)

Solar System .oxps

There used to be Lave, Tianve, Riredi & Diso.

(were there any others? Tionisla seems to have come in several chunks rather than just the one .oxp!)

I've managed to get copies of the first three (they only seem to work with v.1.77 not v.1.88).

Any ideas as to how I can get my grubby paws on Diso? Box are being recalcitrant as usual.

Solar System .oxps
Could you please provide us with some links ? There is a good chance that we could make them work on later versions as well, it just will take time because the current queue is pretty long. After GalTech is finished Isis Interstellar is next, between I probably will finish my (still) pending star wars remake.

And I can upload them with the other candidates for a re-write and include links in the index in the topic's first post.

A pleasure!

Diso: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Diso_OXP

Lave: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Lave_OXP - this one is quite detailed and true to the lore

Riredi: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16237 - this one is fun.

Tianve: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Tianve_OXP - Drew advertising himself! Good fun - especially the stickers!

Oh! And just discovered Taranis.oxp: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Taranis_OXP - not yet visited (downloads from wiki page)!

Couldn't download Diso and Tianve from those links.

Taranis is already on the Expansion Manager

Uploaded Tianve and Riredi to the wiki and defined a manifest for them... now available on the Expansion Manager.

Diso and Lave don't have a license, so I included them (with links for download of the original files) in the index at the topic's first post.

Did the original Taranis feature a mission? There are a couple of early mentions of it along with Lave & Diso as an ambience style .oxp.

No idea, I just checked that the version number of the one in the Expansion Manager matches the one in the link you supplied.

EDIT: had a quick look at the code, it seems it has a mission.

Did you see this one?

http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Croydon_Starsoarer

Glorious, glorious Croydon!

Do you know, if you wander into the town centre and look upwards at the night sky, all the stars go around your head!

It must be the centre of the Ooniverse!*

Yes, I recognized it before but put the priority to low, its 10 years now so I guess the chances are pretty slim. However, thank you for reporting us. :)

That one is by Spara, who is still around. I have a copy, but I will PM him to see if he's OK with it being put in the Expansion Manager.
