Looking for Far Sun OXP

Post by Duggan »

Hi there, I have no idea what happened to Box Downloads. They seem to want us to pay to download anything from them. That having been said theres a fair few oxps that are desirable and I would really like to get of the old far suns oxp. These great big modern ones hurt my old eyes .

If anyone has a copy knocking around or better still a link that isn't hiding by a paywall. Your place in heaven will be assured and the blessings og a thousand Angels will befally you.

Oh alright....I'll be greatful :)

You could add sun_distance_multiplier = 5; to the "universal" section of your planetinfo.plist (adjust that number to taste).
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Same problem here, most OXP's on box can't be downloaded anymore. Once in a while, you find one still available.

If you find any OXP that isn't in the Expansion Manager, please PM me a link.

I would like to create a repository of "lost" OXPs, that aren't in the Expansion Manager for one reason or another, like:
- not maintained anymore, so they weren't updated with a manifest
- no explicit license allowing modification by new maintainers

As I read posts from some years back in this forum, in topics like Tales from the Spacelanes, I see plenty of references to OXPs I can't find anymore, and It's a shame for all that work to be lost - license or not, I can't think that's what the authors wanted...

We should do something... recover as much as we can, update those that can be updated, keep those that can't as inspiration for re-writes.... but it starts by recovering as many of them as we can.

For starters all of The GalTech Industries Corporation ships but there are plenty more. I have some in my backups but not all of them. Personally I think we will need help from everybody on the board to recover from player's installments and backups.

EDIT: I would suggest to open a new topic for this project and move the relevant posts there.

I have Shipbuilder's Escape Pods here (and the download from my Box seems to work).

I'll give it a go. Anything is better than the big bright white Suns on these old eyes :)

Tell me about it! I had eye surgery last week, with more TBA. I can barely look at my computer screen, let alone play the game!

Thanks a lot, Cody,
this download did work. The link from the bb page on the other hand seems to be inactive. It might be an expiry problem, my own box downloads still work as well.

I am using Firefox as well, you need to select all folders/files at the same time (shift or ctrl) to get a decent download.

Waterfox (Classic) downloads it as a .zip (without needing to select all the files).

I have tried your recommendation Cody and as luck would have it, It doesn't seem to work at all.

I am looking for either Far Suns or Sensible Suns OXP both of which seem behind The Box's Paywall sadly .
