And it looks like the game has been running for... 3 days? If this is correct, then maybe a memory leak?

In any case, the test should be done with the current nightly build (v1.89). Inconveniently enough and as it happens when you need it, it looks like the latest Mac nightly has failed to be produced. Hopefully we will see something coming up tomorrow.

Download and install Oolite 1.88 from here. Your current save game can be copied over to the new install, so you keep your rating etc.
When the latest Mac nightly build (1.89) becomes available, download and install it. It's separate, and won't affect your 1.88 install.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I downloaded 1-88 earlier and the sound was better & I thought all was good , the fuel injector noise was permanent rather than sporadic . However after 45 minutes or so the sound disabled again mid fight & same problem ensues .

Hi guys , that is the latest log which probably doesn't include the relevant info again . I downloaded 1-88 earlier and the sound was better & I thought all was good , the fuel injector noise was permanent rather than sporadic . However after 45 minutes or so the sound disabled again mid fight & same problem ensues .

Anyway will post new log tomorrow as this seems to still show 1-86

Try to remove obsolete custom sound OXPs such as Halsis.oxp if you have any. I has the same problem on Mac - sound abruptly disabled during the battle and after 10...15 min game freezing.
Now game seems OK. I don't know real reason - removing obsolete problem OXPs, improved game engine or upgrading from OS X version 10.6 to version 10.9.
I've just stumbled across a newer 2018 version of this, rejigged by Svengali to work with BGS.
