Thanks, jackiebean.
Really I feel myself amateur in coding. Sometimes I prefer lazy habit to simplify task to avoid too complex coding.

Welcome aboard, Commander!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

hal69. Introduce Yourself.

Post by hal69 »

hello, I'm french and I played on Elite first name on an amstrad 464 last century. the game was in wire. I bought a dangerous elite, but as it is a persistent universe, I had to choose between family and a life of nolife, so I chose. today i just discovered oolite, i downloaded it but i did not install it.
otherwise I am a battlefield fan. here I am finished, if you have interesting links I am interested. my nickname hal69 comes from the computer name of the movie space odyssey that goes crazy. the letters h a l are the letters in front of the letters i b m in the alphabet. I was born in 1969.

Welcome, hal69! If you haven't visited it yet, the Oolite wiki is a good link to start off with. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them: these are the friendliest boards this side of Riedquat …

Welcome aboard, hal69!
Oolite is a bit dangerous too in a terms of real life vs simulated life. Having so many possibilities to customize your game you have real challenge to balance game with the rest of life :D

Although, one benefit is that, if you're forced to leave Oolite for a period of time, when you come back to it, it's the same game. It doesn't change on you while you're not looking!

And welcome aboard hal69.

Hi everyone,

I've arrived here after googling oolite, since I played it a lot more than ten years ago, and now I wanted to show it to my 7 year old son. And I found out that the game's still alive and being updated, so I couldn't miss that! I think it's a proof of how great and adaptable the game is ; I hope to have some free time soon to play it again and find out about what the latest mods are.
Apart from that, I'm 37, live in Belgium, and have a wife and a son.

Have a nice day!

Hi all,

I am Robert from Austria. I was born in 1973 and first came into contact with the Elite game series in the early 1990s playing "Elite Plus" on my 486 PC. I also enjoyed the sequel "Frontier", but the original Elite game concept is still one of my all-time favourite computer games.

Recently I found Oolite and I must say that it is one of the only few successful attempts to bring a classic game into the modern world.

I am fascinated by the galaxy generator algorithm, so I have started to build a little "planet browser" for the Sinclair ZX81 computer. I have a few questions about it, and I hope that the "Porting to other platforms" sub-board would be the right place for this topic.

Hi Robert, welcome to the boards! Feel free to post your questions - "Porting to other platforms" sounds a sensible choice but threads can always be moved if necessary.

Welcome aboard, Commander! Elite Plus got me through the long darkness between Elite and Oolite.

Hey Now!

I'm an old Deadhead that's been playing Elite since the early 80's (on a Commodore 64 back then). I stumbled across Oolite about a year and a half ago and have been diggin' it. I just found this site recently and figured I'd register. I'd really like to hear what the experts here have to say about various aspects of the game.
