Cmdr JazHaz's Log, Day 1 - The Return

Post by JazHaz »

Cmdr JazHaz's Log Day 1 3303

After many years stuck planetside, I finally managed to obtain the GTX1050Ti ships computer component that was needed to reboot my old Asp Explorer, the good old Olympus Mons.

I pulled the tarpaulin down to reveal that the years haven't been good to the old gal. It felt very weird lifting off at 06:20hrs on the 25th. None of my old wingmates from the Mobius clan showed as being active.

After reaching orbit and docking at the lone outpost, I cooked a turkey dinner for three people but only two people ate. The wifebot was very sick and didn't want anything. She needs many parts and lots of time maintaining. In fact, not long after dinner was evaporated, in O.Mons' disposal system, she went offline for many hours.

Finally, I could apply the changes required, including a new holo me, gold paintjob and a shiny new SRV. I checked Galnet and found there was a new CG, coincidentally within 30 lightyears of where the ship had been resting. I checked the requirements and found that I already had about 100 tons of titanium in my stash.

It was only 6 or 7 jumps away. I plugged in the Thrustmaster stick and throttle combo, and I was on my way. I reached the Guaras system extremely tired at around 02:00 on the 26th, only to find I still had over 200,000 light seconds to travel. I stifled a yawn and set a course to avoid any possible interdictions.

I saw a few Mobius returns on the scanner but none heard my hails. Maybe I need to get a new microphone? Only text comms was working.

Finally I landed. A very tired Founder, who hadn't flown for years, was pleased to be in the top 75% of the CG with one drop.

I stowed the ship safely under pad 11 and shutdown.

Five minutes later I realised I had forgot to write my log. This log. I am so tired. Who knows when I will be able to fly again? Maybe the wifebot will grant me some more uptime soon.

Sigh.

There goes the neighbourhood!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Welcome home, Commander! 8)
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
