Just wondering if anyone read this book from the 70's? Not the heavily edited American version.
When I read it, I was sure it was total fiction. But tried a year or so with a coin when I couldn't make up my mind. NOT recommended for anyone with commitments.
Stranger paths have been followed for sure. I never made life and death decisions or major crime ones either.
Though did change paths for sure.
So has anyone read a book that had a change of life course effect on them?
If your thinking about a religious books.. Not interested!

Re: The Dice Man
I read that novel back in the seventies. I've heard it described as subversive. <chortles>
Rhinehart also wrote Long Voyage Back, which is a very good read.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Ah.. the "subversive" ploy.
Only second to the "Ban" ploy to insure sales.
Who owns the publishing houses?
Or is that applying the "it's a conspiracy" ploy?

I found this book some month ago in the "library" of my condo. Interesting to read but no method I would be tempted to use

Well Montana, that would be a good idea. You'd have to be young and quite stupid to apply it to real life. I was once both. Got over the young bit. Applying 'The Dice Man' mentality might have done in the young bit too.

Re: The Dice Man
I had my fair share on stupid decisions in the past, mainly involving booze and woman. Well, age and experience calmed me down over the years.
I always was fascinated from the idea of bio-ships, naturally after some other ships I ended up with a Caduceus. The Caduceus Psi XT "Galactic Mercenary" is an improved version of the Dark Rainbow while the Caduceus Psi is based on the Caduceus Omega. Both are still in Alpha test since my family currently takes most of my time.

Re: The Dice Man
Yes - I still have it somewhere. Since I was getting into tabletop RPGs at the time I read it I found it quite interesting. Around the same time (ish) I read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and quickly realised that there was a curse on it - whenever I read it my motorbike would break down in some new and innovative way... Of course my bikes tended to do that a lot anyway, since most were fairly elderly. I really ought to read it again now I no longer ride motorbikes, but I suspect the curse would transfer to my computer or something.
