Speed

Post by lolwhites »

I've just installed Ubuntu on my PC, so I have a dual-boot with XP. I've been playing the Windows version for some time now, and thought I'd check out the Linux version.

I installed version 1.65.x86, but find it runs a lot more slowly (i.e. slower frame rate) than in Windows. Is there anything I can do about that?

Almost certainly a video driver issue. There is a Ubuntu repository with both nvidia and ATI drivers prepackaged - you'll want to use one of those. (I don't use Ubuntu - so I'm afraid you'll have to do a quick search to find where to get them). With the right video drivers it should run the same speed regardless of platform.
