illegal hyperspacejumps

Post by Arexack_Heretic »

Allow hyperspacejumps to systems more than fuel allows.

Then either jump to maximum range of fuel or force a misjump.

This could enable OXPers to make certain unreachable systems reachable, by spawning a behemoth or other refueling method at such a point.

That said, how about adding custom locations on the galaxtic map one can jump to?
It would take the "those refuelers are uncanny at locating me" out of the first suggestion.
And could make dredgers and such custom locations on the map.

For custom systems: addStar <descriptioninplanetinfo> <coordsys> <coords>

There aren't any unreachable systems (and only one dead end), so what would be the point!

In Xelite the hyperspace range is 14 LY, I previously suggested this, but Giles wasn't keen, the 7 LY range in Oolite is apparently set in stone. I've come round to his way of thinking, basically because all the remote constellations can be reached with hypergalactic travel, and because to achieve the number of kills required to reach Elite status, a lot of space travel is required.

I know. I just thought it might be a nice feature to take risky shortcuts.
I'd hate to do a delivery that would require me to traverse 8 galaxies.
It would have to pay out alot!

Think you can add a new system at co-ordinates between systems with:-

<key>interstellar: 0 7 129</key>
<dict>
...
</dict>

Using addPlanet or addMoon should then let you make a new system. I havn't tried it so I don't know if the new system would have a sun or whether it would be populated automatically by ships by Oolite. Be kind of cool if it didn't as the designer could fill it just with special ships. Having a rouge planet with special ships that is only added to the Map at a certain stage of an OXP (sombody transmits you the co-ordinates and you map is updated), would be a cool mission...

yes I know. :roll:

I just recently explained all that to someone who wanted to create a custom system. :lol:

There is no star in the WS between systems and no traffic besides thargoids and behemoths.
The method addStar is also yet not available.
