Had this again last night, but the lock-up was only brief this time (possibly because the queue was short), and Oolite resumed without crashing.Cody wrote:Sitting watching a station rotate while a long queue of ships launched, and Oolite locked-up...

I don't understand this one (I've not dealt in narcotics for a long time, btw):
Code: Select all
16:11:24.819 [load.warning.cargo]: Station market good narcotics (11 units) could not be loaded from the saved game, as it is no longer defined
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Re: Trunk nightly
There's more...... any explanation?
Code: Select all
11:44:40.410 [load.warning.cargo]: Station market good radioactives (21 units) could not be loaded from the saved game, as it is no longer defined
11:44:40.410 [load.warning.cargo]: Station market good minerals (30 units) could not be loaded from the saved game, as it is no longer defined
11:44:40.410 [load.warning.cargo]: Station market good platinum (24 units) could not be loaded from the saved game, as it is no longer defined

Re: Trunk nightly
A station market is failing to load some of its goods. Try starting a new session, then check the log before loading your commander. If it does not contain anything, then load your commander and check again immediately after it's loaded. I expect that you will see the errors appearing right after loading your commander. If this is the case, try the same experiment after removing any recently installed OXP.Cody wrote:There's more...... any explanation?Code: Select all

Re: Trunk nightly
Recently installed OXPs again, eh? <chuckles> Spara?
Ye Olde Hermits and Spicy Hermits: with neither installed, the errors are there; with SH installed, the errors are there; with YOH installed - no errors. <scratches head>

Re: Trunk nightly
Does this happen if you load, save and load again with for example Spicy Hermits installed? The game saves the station market on save and tries to load it back on load. Spicy hermits changes markets and if an old save contains an incompatible number of units in some commodity, I would suspect such an error to pop. Probably the same with Ye Olde Hermits.

That seems to have cleared the errors... thanks.spara wrote:Does this happen if you load, save and load again with for example Spicy Hermits installed?

Re: Trunk nightly
I know that I'm the guy with the strange bugs, and here is another one...
Yesterday I've spent hours of testing with version 1.83, and today, everything went well to for a while. But suddenly, while flying through Laxema system (not near to any station or rock hermit, not fighting, but about 5 ships inside scanner range), the frame rate suddenly dropped to 10 and below without apparent reason or any hint in the log file. It stayed this way even after docking.
The number of entities shown varied very quickly between less than 1200 and more than 1400, the minimums and maximums not much more than a second apart, so somewhere in the system there must have been something very strange going on. After docking, these numbers rose from around 1400 to more than 1900. Apart from the rapid changing of the entity count, it also seemed very high - usual values in this rather crowded system are below 300. And no, there was no "nuclear war" going on this time!
Oolite used more CPU during this behaviour, about twice as much as usual.

Re: Trunk nightly
Out of curiosity, which GPU are you using?

It's an Asus Radeon HD 7750 (1 GB).

Re: Trunk nightly
The high number of entities present is obviously the reason for the frame rate drop. I believe an OXP is recursively spawning entities and fills up the system really quick (the universe "terminates" at 2048 entities and from that point onwards weird things start happening). Can you provide a log file listing the installed OXPs? Do you have Griff's Wreckage by any chance? I don't know what its current status is, but I recall that in the past this OXP had been responsible for excessive entity spawns.

Re: Trunk nightly
Yes, Griff's Wreckage was installed at the time. I've been using it for several months, and I never had problems like this before. But I do remember some log entries (warnings?) concerning this OXP that weren't present with version 1.82.
I can list the other OXPs and the mentioned log entries, but this will have to wait until I'm at home.

You mean
Griff_alloys_and_wreckage.oxz
, yes? I have that installed, but have not seen any excessive spawning.I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
