I don't know if it is connected, but there is a strange docking bug in Escort Contracts that sometimes causes traders to stop about where the boa is in the screenshot. They don't veer away, they just stop, and if you come closer, you can see that they kind of tremble. If you come very close and trigger the collision avoidance, they start to move again, turn away, try again and succeed.

The strange thing is that this doesn't seem to be a bug in the Escort Contracts scripts because ec_mother_dockingAI.plist is virtually identical to the core (version 1.82) dockingAI.plist, apart from the behaviour when attacked. On the other hand, I've never seen this happen with any other ship.

Nothing to do with Escort Contracts as I don't have them. Nearly all the small number of OXPs I have are eye-candy, so nothing likely to affect the game workings.

That's not what I meant. But there could be something like a "500 m problem" that affects the OXP as well as version 1.83.

How often do these unexpected behaviours happen? Do they occur in standard 1.82 at all?

I was just clearing-up that what I saw was not due to Escort Contracts (or any other OXP really), but I could see a 'core' issue affecting OXPs, or at least ships acting within an OXP scenario.

I can't help there I'm afraid. I don't play at the moment as I've been working on my ship up-dates. I'm flying around them taking a look and am just using that old version of trunk (which I should update sometime).

I've seen it twice with trunks between 151018 and 151209 I think. Sorry can't remember which exactly. Not been playing 1.82 so can't help there. Not been playing much so might be quite common, of course it requires the right ship in the right place at the right time.

Not very often - apart from the two recent occurrences, I've only seen it a few times before (running trunk only, btw). In a way though, it's kinda realistic - a pilot could change their mind at the last second - I do it myself on occasion. Probably useless info: the Python that veered away still had the station as its target.

Yes, but this low-end solution only make the edges of holes on your hull less hackly by hammer and handsaw. ;)

Yesterday I saw exactly what Smivs described: I'm not completely sure, but I think it was a Python ET turning away without reason. Between him and me was another Python (I don't remember if standard or OXP), and this ship docked without problem, so the ET got his clearance cancelled. I'm using version 1.82, downloaded in July 2015. And this case had nothing to do with Escort Contracts, they were just random ships.

<grins> Quite! I wouldn't trust them unless desperate, but there is a TL10 right next door (which is where I had the overhaul).

Another couple of late refusals - a Boa last night, and an Adder just now. It feels like intended behaviour - but is it?

Sitting watching a station rotate while a long queue of ships launched, and Oolite locked-up, then stopped responding - had to close it.

Station watching again: two transporters launched (a few minutes apart), crept past me, and headed for the planet. On their return flights, they both crashed into the station. The first was almost certainly on final approach, even though I had docking clearance; the second also, but I had no clearance on that occasion.

In shipdata.plist "oolite_template_alloy" uses model "alloy.dat", but it should use model "oolite_alloy.dat" for the materials to work correctly.
