Naval Energy Unit - now all contracts are orange?
I "upgraded" my ship from a Boa Class Cruiser to another Boa Class Cruiser, but with a Naval Energy Unit. I bought loads of new equipment for it - nothing that the previous one didn't have, except for the expensive military shields. Then I went to look at the cargo contracts and they were all orange, which means that you can't deliver them in time. Since late contracts don't get paid, no point taking them! Is it a bug or is there something about the Naval Energy Unit which slows the ship down?

I think the contracts was there since you docked, then you spent much time to fit equipments so all is outdated. Don't worry, there are new ones in the next system.paul_c wrote:I bought loads of new equipment

Phew! Makes sense now. I have autosave turned on, so I went back a step and added equipment one by one. I know that some of it takes ages (for example the 47.5k shield thing takes 5 days to fit) so I deliberately didn't take any contracts before buying it. I'll fit it out then do a quick hop to another planet and carry on! Thanks.Norby wrote:I think the contracts was there since you docked, then you spent much time to fit equipments so all is outdated. The orange contacts are still worth checking as they might still be possible. The timing is worked out for the shortest number of jumps, not the quickest route, so it just depends on how much time you have used up.

It's simpler just to go on to the next system where the contracts will be new and shiny - you don't earn any more money by taking an orange contract than an ordinary one. The time for contracts usually includes enough extra time to make up any time lost if (for example) you need maintainance along the way, that margin is lost if you take an orange contract.

It might be an idea to consider: Display the time needed for the service you request. Refuel, maintenance, new equipment. Usually one is not aware that these things take time, until you start the contract business and learn it the hard way.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Until then you can install Equipment Aide in the Equipment category of expansion manager.ralph_hh wrote:Hm.. I really should update someday...
