Hi all, help a confused old-noob?

Post by Hullblazer »

I am a 44yo ex-BBC-Elite player, over the moon to find a full port of the game.

I've downloaded it to my Win10 Laptop and it runs well. However, I cannot get mouse control of my ship.

Is "full screen"the maximised window? Can't be as I still see task and address bars. How do I get full screen?

If this is not the issue, can I patch for mouseflight?

Many thanks
P.

Welcome aboard, Commander! To play fullscreen, go to F2, then Game Options and select it there!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Welcome, welcome, don't step in that, trumbles have been at it. Hullo, Hull-blazer. Mouse controls can be enabled in default key controls by pressing 'shift-M', I believe. They do only work in full screen, according to the wiki. Enjoy your flying and may your cargopods never burst.
Reports of my death have been greatly underestimated.

Pro-tip: Quick fullscreen toggle key is F12. Then your mouse will work if you press Shift+M. This will map the mouse x-axis to roll. If you want yaw on the x-axis, then press Ctrl+Shift+M instead. Shift+M while in mouse control mode will de-activate it again.

Enjoy the game! ;-)

Thank you all!

I spent a thoroughly enjoyable couple of house last night just "flight training", before SWMBO got home...

Tonight I'll start properly; I can see a good few hours of Diso/Leesti milk runs in my future!

Sold my missiles last night for extra Credits and then couldn't target the next station to request docking permission? My fine of Cr0.2 shows how much I've tied up in stock...

You don't need to use the missile targeting system (in fact, it's probably safer if you don't). Use the "r" key when the station is in your crosshairs to activate your ship's ID system.

Ah (see what I did there?), thank you! Have now printed the "Wiki Console Sheets" but even they don't take you everywhere!

Inside your Oolite install folder, you'll find a folder called "doc". Apart from all the other fun items it contains, there's a pdf titled "OoliteRS". The 'RS' stands for Reference Sheet. Page 1 is particularly worth printing out..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

As well as Start->All Programs->Oolite->OoliteRS on Windows, if memory serves me correctly.

Don't ask me how to get to it on Win8/10. That stupid interface drives me nuts.
