Planetary Landing question

Post by Imaginos »

Given that the Planetary Landing equipment is quite expensive, is there any financial incentive to planetfall or is it purely a novelty?

Planetary Landing Capability is 5000 credits, there's plenty oxp equipment that is priced higher.

On it's own PF does add to immersion, but imo not much else.
However, an OXP like Feudal States (one of my favorites) require it, and there are other oxps that benefit from PF.

Check PF wiki page, if you don't like the oxps listed there you prob won't want it.

It gives you the option of refuelling or taking on cargo without Galcop intervention, also planets often sell the same things as the space station, occasionally at slightly lower prices. With a big ship the possibility of getting say another 20 tons of cheap furs or computers is well worth the time loss. You do have to be a bit careful, every so often the equipment goes wrong and you can't land until it's repaired, also you can't save on a planet.

When I ran into some problems yesterday I was in urgent need of a couple of hundred KG of platinum to fill a contract cargo after some combat damage, I thought it was worth trying the local planet to get more. Unfortunately it was not to be...

One advantage of the PlanetFall OXP is that, if you have an OXP (I think this functionality is provided by OXPs rather than the core game) that adds extra planets and/or moons to systems, you refuel on them. Things get a bit dicey, though, if you have the Deep Space Pirates OXP installed . .

If you look at the other thread on this there's currently some sort of glitch that means there's no cargo or cargo customers at the landing site - I wouldn't recommend using this until it's fixed.

See the other thread for a fix. Basically, install the Planetfall Markets v0.1 OXP and go in for landings VERY slowly.
