Stingy rock hermits?
In 1.82 I have used Station Dock Control to follow a couple of ships to rock hermits. When I docked I found they had no goods on sale, all the prices were zero and I could not sell anything. Is this normal?

Re: Stingy rock hermits?
The markets at rock hermits can be very sparse in 1.82 - but nothing available and all prices at zero doesn't sound right.
Could you take a pic of the market and post it, please?

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Named rock hermit at Xeoner:
The other dodgy ones were named as well. One was "Gilroy's Lament" or something.
I also docked at a couple of unnamed rock hermits and their markets were fine.
ed. Do I get a prize for precipitating Cody's 10,000th post?

Thanks...
Ha! I hadn't noticed! If anyone had told me six years ago that I'd rack-up that many posts, I'd have laughed at them!
Here... have a coconut!
... that sounds familiar. One for the Devs to look at in the morning. Which shipset(s) are you using, btw?streb2001 wrote:I also docked at a couple of unnamed rock hermits and their markets were fine.

Xeoner is a Communist system, according to the Wiki. You wouldn't happen to have the 'Commies' oxp installed, would you? There's a known conflict where it uses Rock Hermits to generate Astromines, and the Astromines /probably/ haven't been updated to the new markets in 1.82.streb2001 wrote:Named rock hermit at Xeoner:

EDIT: Tosses confetti all over Cody's 10,000th post. Have a basket of oranges and Laveian tree grubs.
Reports of my death have been greatly underestimated.

Vanilla 1.82 plus these addons (I use JSGME, sorry!):
ps. Context Music and Dynamic Engine Sound are my own addons, unpublished. They only manipulate sounds however.
Coconut accepted...

Re: Stingy rock hermits?
You could try updating Random Ship Names - 1.6 is the latest. I didn't realise that Station Dock Control was an OXP - I wonder if that is connected?

Re: Stingy rock hermits?
I will update Random Ship Names, but it will have to be tomorrow as it is now 1:30am!
Good job on 1.82 though. I do like being able to silence sounds when the game is paused.

Re: Stingy rock hermits?
Might be "Griff station bundle" - I don't know if the markets in that have been updated yet.

Re: Stingy rock hermits?
It shouldn't be. It's concerned with traffic, not markets (yet). Latest version is 0.6.1, though. Worth updating.Cody wrote:didn't realise that Station Dock Control was an OXP - I wonder if that is connected

Re: Stingy rock hermits?
Yep, could be that - but I've kinda lost track of which and what, as regards Griff's stuff.cim wrote:Might be "Griff station bundle" - I don't know if the markets in that have been updated yet.
Off-topic, but on the subject of losing track: it seems I've lost/forgotten the little tweak/OXP that displays one's ship on F5 - help!

Set show-ship-model-in-status-screen to YES in user defaults.

Ah yes, one of the tweaks I lost when I screwed-up my defaults file - many thanks!kanthoney wrote:Set show-ship-model-in-status-screen to YES in user defaults.

Re: Stingy rock hermits?
OK, docked with a named rock hermit in 1.82 with all my addons enabled and found that the markets were normal. It was the same RH that was not working last night. I think I have a smoking gun now, if not direct proof. Here is the tale:
I installed 1.82 in a new folder (C:\Oolite 1.82) to preserve my 1.80 game.
Copied my saved commander from 1.80 to 1.82.
Ran 1.82 and saw that the joystick assignments were all wrong.
Copied GNUstepDefaults from 1.80 to 1.82 to try to get the JS settings back (failed - had to reassign anyway).
Failed to remember that the save game path is stored as an ABSOLUTE path in GNUstepDefaults.
Changed the save game path to 1.82
Recopied 1.80 save game to 1.82 folder.
Loaded game and resaved in 1.82 under a different name.
Both seem to work.
Looks like it is a save game cockup between both versions.
edit: more evidence. Save game docked at named rock hermit. If I run 1.82 with Griff station bundle installed, the RH market shows prices but won't let me sell anything (food in this case). If I rerun the game with Griff uninstalled I am able to sell my stuff to the RH market. Looks like the Griff addon is causing the problem.
Does this help at all? I will keep my eyes peeled in case it happens again.
