Wormhole hitchhiking - Has

Post by Smagmish Yofgraw »

Hi,

Sorry but I'm newish to Oolite and I just wondered if this hitchhiking is normal as I can't find any mention of it in the Wiki or elsewhere. I just find someone else's wormhole and dive into it, ending up at a random location (I think it's within 7.0 light years of where I started but might be slightly more) without using any fuel.

Of course it could just be my imagination or forgetting where I am.

Sounds like just some random wormholes. They appear occasionally, and usually lead... TO DEATH!

Hitchiking is a perfectly legal way of making your way around the galaxy for relatively little money. The only problem is that you cannot really know where you end up...

it's not really a random location where you end up, it's where the trader that left the wormhole-'wake' open went to, so you'll meet it on the other side.

Great way to do piracy, just follow a fat trader and jump it when he starts going to the planet  You still have 7LY of fuel, so you can use your fuel injectors without abandon, heehee...

And what's really amazing is that the trader's escorts always seem to make it to the other side ahead of you, even if you entered the wormhole before they did. It's like those annoying people who exit a revolving door in a different order than they entered.
Attacking a Navigational Beacon is illegal. Police are on their way.

Thanks All, it's good to know that it's not just me and I'm not losing my mind.
