Screenshots for a history of Elite

Post by Raveen »

Hi there!

To tie in with a review of Elite: Dangerous I'm writing a brief history of the Elite Franchise for a geek website. I would like to include screen shots of the old games but I don't have the time or inclination to set up emulators and get the old games running :)

Would anyone be able to help me? Alternatively the Alioth Elite Wiki has plenty of screen shots I could use but I'm not sure whether I can use those images without permission?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Raveen, and welcome.
Sounds like an interesting project - good luck with it.

Hi

You can find various screenies in the Screenshots thread in this Discussion forum.

Also, you can pick the ones you like best from here (125 MB file):

These are various screens taken from a few different game versions. Some are quite old and some were made to demonstrate development features, but I hope that this covers what you need.

I'd love to read up your history of Elite once it's been posted.

I think that Alioth Elite Wiki images are Creative Commons licensed, so permission shouldn't be a problem - but I ain't certain!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Thanks for the quick responses, that's really helpful.

I'm not sure that my articles will say much that the folks on this forum don't already know but I'll drop a link in when they're up :)

A brief nod of acknowledgement to the Alioth Elite Wiki would be nice, too.. hopefully the server won't get slashdotted though!
