G'day and welcome aboard, Tvis! 8)

Could you expand on your statement a bit, please? In what way does it do that?
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Hi Tvis, and welcome.
I'm not sure I entirely agree, although through choice I don't often use it. I never use 'insta-dock' in normal play, but sometimes at the end of a run it's nice to put your feet up and enjoy the scenery while the computer does all the hard work :)

Yes, welcome aboard, Commander!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
