Cabal Common Library
Ive only come close to punching my screen twice in my Oolite career. The first time involved program files system protection and OXPs. The second involves Cabals Common Library of assorted tortures.
I call it that because, this so called OXP defeats me every time. I want to experience Snoopers and BGS but CCL has a personal issue with my computer. It is in the add on folder with my other working OXPs but I get a "the expansion pack 'backgroundset' was not loaded as it requires 'depends on ccl 1.7' which is not installed."
Its installed. I dont get it. I had these problems before and promptly raged and just installed the bgs backround images.
I dont use the OXZ or whatever the new format is called because I believe it requires tje internet? Which my computer doesnt have.
Any help is appreciated! Installing background images now. :p

Re: Cabal Common Library
Download the OXZ version of CCL and chuck it in AddOns if you don't want to use the OXZ manager for whatever reason. Personally, I don' think you're missing out on much.

OXZs do not "require" the internet. Using the Expansion Manager does. If you want/need to use a particular OXZ, you can download it using its direct download link (the little icon in the far-right column) at http://www.oolite.org/oxps/ with whatever machine/device you presently use to download OXPs, then copy it over to the gaming machine, and drop it into the AddOns folder, where it will work just fine.OneoftheLost wrote:I dont use the OXZ or whatever the new format is called because I believe it requires tje internet? Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
Re: Cabal Common Library
Assuming the Expansion Manager is part of the core game, then "full use of core game requires internet connection" reminds me of something. Can't for the life of me remember what though.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Heheheh.. good thing it's not really part of the "core game" then, eh?streb2001 wrote:Assuming the Expansion Manager is part of the core game, then "full use of core game requires internet connection" reminds me of something. Can't for the life of me remember what though.

Nor does it strictly require an internet connection - it can be pointed at a web server on localhost equally well, which is how I did the initial testing.Diziet Sma wrote:Heheheh.. good thing it's not really part of the "core game" then, eh?streb2001 wrote:Assuming the Expansion Manager is part of the core game, then "full use of core game requires internet connection" reminds me of something. Interesting. I wonder if a good hacker could intercept the packets from ED, analyse and so spoof an ED server locally. Purely hypothetically of course.cim wrote:- it can be pointed at a web server on localhost equally well

Well, it turned already that some well established web only MMORPGs (SIC!) can be experienced with a local server ...streb2001 wrote:Interesting. They could disrupt THE VISION.Diziet Sma wrote:I very much doubt they could do anything particularly nefarious with it, even if they succeeded.streb2001 wrote:I wonder if a good hacker could intercept the packets from ED, analyse and so spoof an ED server locally. Purely hypothetically of course.

Agreed.. ignore my comment.. for some reason I was thinking of Oolite, not ED, when I posted the above.. low caffeine levels in the blood, I guess..Wildeblood wrote:They could disrupt THE VISION.
