I recently started a new pilot, but kept my oxps installed. The Cobra mark III-XT is also present, since i intend to upgrade to that one later.
While doing Tionisla Isinor runs to get money for equipment, i got challenged by a black knave.
Having only the basic cobra , it was press space commander in seconds.

You describe the black knaves as a criminal organisation, but with a chivalry like code of conduct.
Maybe you could add a check for player level, so black knaves only challenge players that have reached above average or competent level ?

Terribly sorry about that, Lone_Wolf. I will provide an alternate download without the Black Knave's, which I will post a link to in this thread.

My bad!

Actually, I like the sound of Lone_Wolf's proposed solution better..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

This incident shows that you should read up on OXPs that you download and only install the ones that won't affect the balance of your Ooniverse.

Right, not a JS boffin but changed the script to check for player score. Black Knave will only appear if player is competent or higher. Also removed chance for Knave's having a cloaking device. Will release update in a day or so.

That is a good general rule, but the reason i posted had nothing to do with the change in balance.
I found an inconsistency between the description of the Black Knaves and their in-game behaviour and reported that.

Thanks for picking this up, CaptSolo.

Version 1.2 is ready:
https://www.box.com/s/aow5wgulekdsdaahni16

Black Knaves will now only challenge pilots rated competent or better. Also decreased the chance they will appear and removed cloaking device entry in shipdata.plist.

It seems this oxp has disappeared from the the wiki oxp list.

The Cobra MK3-XT however has it's own page on our wiki : [wiki]Cobra_Mark_III-XT[/wiki]
The download link on that page is valid.

I am re-working this OXP with new models and textures and bringing back the Black Knaves. I am employing Griff's shaders for his original Cobra Mk. III. This preview of the player ship just happens to be randomly painted this color, which I guess is a magenta. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Still a bit more texture work to be done and I'm painfully slow doing it.

Looks great :D

Any news on the neolite retextures :?:
I'm not doing a re-texture insofar as the original diffuse textures exist. Simon's textures are great, IMHO. I used them as a base to create several additional texture maps, specular, effects, and normal maps. These are rendered by Keeper's modified fragment shader. Then, I modified the shipdata.plist to bring in the new AI's and roles for Oolite 1.80+.

For all practical purposes, I have finished what I started out to do. I just need to bundle it up as an OXZ and publish it.

I knew I'd said it wrong but only now am I aware of the extent to which I was wrong
Yes, I love pretty much all of Simon B's stuff. Looking forward to that one (and this one after seeing the picture above) coming out.

Thanks :D

Texturing finished, now doing some final testing and hope to make this available for the in-game expansion pack manager very soon. Wiki page updated:

Now, Master Redspear, I shall push forward with the makeover of Simon B's Ships: Fer-de-Lance and Epod from his Neolites, and most of the ships from his Neolite Companion and Wolfies OXP's.
