[1.80] Confused Ship Library

Hello,

I'm using 1.80 on Ubuntu 12.04.

I noticed the ship library displays different stats for the same ship after just pressing the Up/Down keys a number of times in the ship listing. Here are some screenshots for proof:

I can't imagine that this is intentional.

No OXPs installed except Povray Planets Galaxy 1 textures.

Thank you for the report. I'm almost certain I know what this is and what needs doing to fix it - to confirm, do you ever see changes in anything other than the Shields and maybe the Generator entry?

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

No, I only see the Shields and sometimes the Generator change.

Edit: I'm not sure if Shields and Generator refer to Energy Cells and Recharge Rate, anyway. But that's probably what it means. I've been trying to compare ships via the Library when I noticed the bug.

Great - then this is it. What's happening is it's getting the spec by generating a ship, but that includes the equipment variations of the ship, and the Fer-de-lance has a very high chance of having extra shields installed, so its spec will flicker as you go back and forth to it.

(Trying to fix that also revealed another bug which is that the game will let you remove shield boosters from NPCs which don't have them installed, with predictably silly results)

This is now fixed in the main branch. If this builds successfully overnight, it'll go into our next bug fix release. Thanks again for the report.

To give the player an idea of how the possible equipment variations play into it, just as an off the cuff idea, you might add a new stat to the library display - "Upgradeability" (poor, fair, maximum.)
