I can suggest nerfing those ships down a bit. Their dual weapons are on subents; replace the WEAPON_MILUITARY_LASER on the subents with WEAPON_BEAM_LASER or WEAPON_PULSE_LASER.
The ships will still be pains in the butt, yet considerably less uber.

While we're on the subject of the companion shipset... is there some way to confirm what the in-game size of the Cobra MKII-X is (and whether it can be scaled up if needed)? According to the Wiki it's smaller than an ADDER! Maybe the Neolite version is different in size?
