Hi Brazouck, no problem, welcome to the boards! The OXP doesn't change all the buoys into billboards, only ones in Corporate States, Democracies and Confederacies, so you'll only see them there - that might have been the problem. Con Stores will only appear in systems with populations higher than 4 billion.

Does anyone know offhand which ads there are around for fuel suppliers?

I'm just updating the Fuel Stations OXP, and was going to "borrow" a few to use as banner ads beside the fuel stations (with the stations themselves dyed a suitable colour to match). However I can only find three vaguely related ones in the ad sets (Texacoo [A18], BW [B24] and Castrool [G06]).

Does anyone know if there are any others that I've missed, or could be provided/made?

Doing a Windows "view as extra large icons" in the textures directory, shows all the ads for each set.

Its not exactly fuel, but OO (think AA - the automobile association) at A06.
There's a similar one at D24 - AoA (adder owners association).
Dunloop at G08.

That's how I found the first three ;)

I was a little surprised that there weren't more - I was expecting at least half a dozen or so. Might have to make some more up then, as I want it to be more specifically fuel rather than just "motoring" (or whatever the equivalent is in a spaceship).

I'm pretty sure that I remember at least fake ads for Shell and Texaco (the latter one probably as Texacoo), maybe Elf and something with the Agip lion as well.

You could try an enhanced Google search for the relevant buzz words on this very thread, which would at least catch text references to ads, if not the ads themselves.

Citgoo is on the same Ad Board as the green Texacoo ad in set A (I think)

I did an Oolf one based obviously on Elf, I'll dig it out and post it here.

So this thread never made it to 2000 posts. Well it did have a good run.

This post is just once and for all to make it clear, that you're all welcome to take my ideas and run with them - not only for OXPs but also for any new expansion format - I just received a request regarding this.

Please update any models too. While some of my ads and logos for PI-42's and other brands at least were kind of acceptable, most of my models really sucked - like the original constores and the Worker's Commuter (even though that one was supposed to suck - at least on the stats).

Credit would be nice but is not required :)

I haven't played Oolite or any other game for years, but it's nice to know that Aegidian's great remake and the community that grew around it still thrives. Thumbs up to everybody keeping Oolite and the spirit of Braben's original Elite alive!

A very special round of cheers to those of you still here from "back in the days" (2007 - 8, I think).

And to all of you: May your lasers stay cool and may all the cargo you scoop be gold.

Dr. Nil out ... and off into the sunset

Indeed.

And on the subject of conversion, unless anyone has objections I'll convert this OXP and its' sets to OXZ's and upload them to the wiki for use with 1.79 (as I'm already hosting one of the download sites for it anyway I already have all the files to hand).

As the OXP itself doesn't actually contain any license information, I've set the manifest license details to "Creative Commons Attribution - Non-Commercial - Share Alike 4.0" based on Dr. Nil's comments above and our most commonly used license. If anyone has objections to that please let me know.

Editted to add - OK, all uploaded and manifests ready in draft format for release. If no-one raises any objections or concerns in the next couple of days I'll activate them.

I'd say YAH! is in safe hands.. 8)
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
