You can always save beforehand if you are really that concerned about your trumbles. Don't Panic, we wouldn't tell PETA about your trumble genocide if you happen to succeed, anyways.
I actually have a savegame called "Backup" which I saved before doing something. (I don't remember what.) I'll probably just do that.

Everyone is talking about eating them... Does that mean they turn into food? :D

There's a Transporter OXP?
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Now there's a thought - a possible modification of the Ship's Cat OXP to deal with trumbles?

There are tales, whispered in spacer bars by old-timers, of dead pilots found aboard derelict ships, their half-eaten bodies surrounded by trumble fur.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Nope. Trumbles cannot be removed by script/OXP (and that's deliberately so).
