Out of memory error.

This one is almost certainly the culprit...

Code: Select all

Ship_Storage_Helper.js 0.20
: it requires increasingly more memory the more Ship OXPs you install, especially if your Ship OXPs have large textures.
I'm going to be very quiet. I'm not going to breath. I'm not even going to move.
For the first time in weeks, Oolite just booted up, with the Shift key pressed, without causing a problem ....

I'm now going to restart the computer (it always fails after a reboot) and see what happens.

May Lobster Worshipers bless your paths with fragrant carapace petals.

May the Lord Giles bless your shields.

By all the odd gods of the galaxy, IT WORKED.

No Fail. No error messages, just a nice spinning Cobra Mk 3.

Thanks guys. Appreciated.

Yep.. Ship Storage Helper is can be a real RAM eater..

@ cim.. do you remember when you asked me if those 5 minute load times were normal on my old desktop computer?

It turned out to be the SSH.. once I removed it, the same list of OXPs loaded in under 20 seconds.

<I'm beginning to think perhaps it should be moved from the 'WIP' section of the OXP list to the 'Known problems' section for the time being.. or at least some prominent notices being posted in the thread and Wiki entry>

Now I made a wiki page for [wiki]Ship_Storage_Helper[/wiki] with a notice to use v0.21 against memory problems.

The v0.21 perform better in Oolite 1.77 also due to I rewrited the most problematic part.

I've updated the Wiki entry to clarify this point.
