What if...? (knowing the rules)

Post by iperich »

What if I kill somebody clean near the planet's station, the police shoots at me, I run with my witch fuel injectors and then I made a witchspace jump? Can I return safely to that planet some day? Will I be put in some black list? it depends on the planet's government?

In the core game, there is no blacklist - a series of hyperspace jumps will gradually clear your legal status (there are other ways).
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

<grins> A kill is a kill, whether it be some poor, innocent trader, a luckless Viper jock - or another bandit!

I am appalled that you would think like that...one kill at a time.. get an energy bomb then go hunting.. often you will find convoys out there , furballs around an seedy bar, bounty hunting jobs... all provide good numbers for kills.... find a thargon... let it spawn then blast them all at once... each can spawn up to 8 remote units.... you get the kill count, the bounty if there is one and any cargo that jas been jettisoned.
The rule that I follow is get what you can and then exit the scene... play ghost ship and ply the charts...highest kill count so far is 15 at a time. the count really goes up fast that way. Of course there are those who will say that you never will get the individual skills if you don't go 1-1 but you know what.. that is the easy way to get killed off. Blast em and flit so you can blast and flit again. Now I must get fitted for a station costume party... i am going as Napolean....hahahahahahahahahha

What about Random Hits? I have the Rank "Poor" (22 kills) but for the Bounty Guild (I think it refers to the Random Hits missions) I appear as "Harmless Outsider". What should I do for increase that rank?

You will need to be at least average to start getting missions but a helpful hint for you:
get as much cash as possible and save up 50,000 credits and then get the long distance planner.
this little baby will give you options that you can only dream about:
find where the cargo is, where the docking stations are, where the bounty is and an overall view of all the ships in the 25Km range of your radar. With these you can actually plan your assaults on the offenders.
even the assassination missions can be planned with this so you do not hunt inefficiently. The use of the energy bomb will work more efficiently also as you will get more ships for your bang.
Good hunting :D

I got one, and made my first innocent convoy serial kill, 5 ships (paralel kill, actually...). With that, my rank went to Average, so I went to a bar and got a mission at last in Random Hits. I bought another energy bomb just in case, a couple of missiles and went to kill the guy. It was a little hard (it was not an "easy" mission, I have some proud) but in the end I killed him with a long laser stream. Then, I received some news in Bloomberg markets about some gems prices going down, so I went there... (a long trip, but well...) In my way there, a bunch of idiots got me after a witchspace jump screaming something about revenging their dead pal. I smiled, drop my energy bomb and blasted them out.

HAHAHAHAHAHA , I'm such a badass

Then, when I was finally at one jump to the gems, I received some news that the prices went normal.....

WHAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!? :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

This game is awesome.

PD: I found a bug in Random Hits, all people there referred to the victim as something like "thanks for kill [random_hits_bounty]" or something, I don't remember. Is the one in the OXP list the last version, right?

Thanks for reporting. The latest version of RH is 1.5.3 for Oolite 1.77. Not much detail about the bug, but I'll see if I can spot it out.

Bug reports are much valued here. In the future when you find an oxp bug, the correct place to report it is the oxp's thread in the Expansion Pack forum. Try to give as much detail as possible. What happened? When did it happen? Oolite version. Oxp version. Possibly a list of other oxps as they might clash. Was there anything relevant in the game log file? Maybe a screenshot. And so on.

There is something you should consider: how many help do you want to enjoy playing and where is the "too much" border which reduce the treat. The end of this scale is cheating, though I am sure you will not change things in your savegame, but OXPs provide possibilities which can shift the gameplay to this direction.

First is the Energy Bomb: in the current Oolite it is replaced with [EliteWiki] Quirium Cascade Mine to make it less uber.

Next is the Long Range Scanner, which show the whole system for free after you can buy it. More player told it is unrealistic so I made [wiki]Telescope[/wiki] which show less but cheap and avoid cheat feeling.

Lastly probably the most extreme extension is the [EliteWiki] Killit OXP, it is worth to read the description. ;)

Of course you can try anything for fun but using in your main game should be moral decision imho.
