If you like fair play then install ... [EliteWiki] Realistic Damage OXP to enable destroying your equipments during your flee. It is only the first step, the second can be the Breakable Standard Equipment OXPs and you will be surely cautious. ;)
In a similar vein, my Battle Damage OXP adds hull damage to the player ship when you take unshielded hits. There are also several good eye-candy OXPs in my catalogue. The link above will take you to my Oolite page with details of all my OXPs.

Did this one have some issues with Griff's asteroids?

If you are using griff asteroids as addons, their splinters will not be substituted by the ones from ore processor (so, they will remain simple minerals). With griff asterois as replacement, some splinters will be substituted with ore's splinters and they work correctly. Unfortunately, they don't share the same aspect as the griff splinters and are too easly recognizable.

That's the ones I was trying to think of.. a Rusties Python as a startup option..
If we try to stay with the core ships, how about a start option with a python, that has it's service level at minimum? That would be a true rustie, not a ship variant with altered specs. A quick test shows that it would then have the sell value of 119 000. The default Cobra mk3 has the sell value of 111 000 so the difference would not be so big.

Sounds good..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Note that spara has now added this as a startup option to the latest version of his Start Choices OXP. 8)
